    Abstract : This thesis presents HELIOS, an in-house laboratory for time-resolved pump-probe spectroscopy with extreme-ultraviolet (XUV) probe radiation. A wide span of pump wavelengths can be generated using commercial laser equipment while XUV probe radiation is generated via a high harmonic generation process in a noble gas delivering probe photons with energies between 20 eV and 72 eV. 3. 3. Characterisation of the Neutron Wall and of Neutron Interactions in Germanium-Detector Systems

    Author : Joa Ljungvall; Johan Nyberg; Andres Gadea; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Nuclear physics; High-purity Ge detectors; Liquid scintillator detectors; Neutron scattering; Digital electronics; Time-of-flight technique; Pulse-shape simulation and analysis; Monte Carlo simulations; Geant4; Gamma-ray tracking; AGATA; Neutron Wall; Kärnfysik; Nuclear physics; Kärnfysik;

    Abstract : A Monte Carlo simulation of the Neutron Wall detector system has been performed using Geant4, in order to define optimum conditions for the detection and identification of multiple neutrons. Emphasis was put on studying the scattering of neutrons between different detectors, which is the main source of the apparent increase of the number of detected neutrons. READ MORE

  4. 4. Reactivity of Metal Clusters with Diatomic Molecules

    Author : Lotta Holmgren; Chalmers University of Technology; []
    Keywords : Nbn; cluster; reactivity; Rhn; NO; D2; CO; N2; laser vaporization; Wn; Nin; photoionization; time-of-flight mass spectrometer; ionization potential; Cun; O2; Vn;

    Abstract : The reactivity of transition-metal clusters, in the approximate size range 10-60 atoms, with diatomic molecules has been investigated. A pulsed beam of neutral clusters is produced by a laser-vaporization source and passed through a low-pressure reaction cell containing the reactive gas. READ MORE

  5. 5. Fusion Plasma Observations at JET with the TOFOR Neutron Spectrometer : Instrumental Challenges and Physics Results

    Author : Maria Gatu Johnson; Matthias Weiszflog; Luciano Bertalot; Uppsala universitet; []

    Abstract : The neutron spectrometer TOFOR was installed at JET in 2005 for high-rate observation of neutrons from reactions between two deuterium (D) ions. Neutron spectrometry as a fusion plasma diagnostic technique is invoked to obtain information about the velocity states of fusion fuel ions. READ MORE
