11. Cardiovascular disease and hypertension : Population-based studies on self-rated health and health-related quality of life in Sweden
Abstract : The aim with this thesis was to study cardiovascular disease and hypertension, use of drugs and health from an epidemiological perspective. Various methods - self-rated health (SRH), health related quality of life (HRQL) - the 36-item short form questionnaire (SF-36) - and health utility measurements - the rating scale (RS) and the time-trade off (TTO) methods - were employed. 12. On the trade-off between uncertainty and delay in UWB and 5G localization
Abstract : Location-aware technologies in combination with emerging wireless communication systems have revolutionized many aspects of our daily lives by means of applications within the commercial, public and military sectors. Ultra-wideband (UWB) and 5G stand out as emerging radio frequency (RF) based technologies that tackle the limitations of Global Positioning System solutions. READ MORE

13. Issues in Urban Travel Demand Modelling : ICT Implications and Trip timing choice
Abstract : Travel demand forecasting is essential for many decisions, such as infrastructure investments and policy measures. Traditionally travel demand modelling has considered trip frequency, mode, destination and route choice. This thesis considers two other choice dimensions, hypothesised to have implications for travel demand forecasting. READ MORE

14. Analysis and Design of Software-Based Optimal PID Controllers
Abstract : A large process industry can have somewhere between five hundred and five thousand control loops, and PID controllers are used in 90–97% of the cases. It is well-known that only 20–30% of the controllers in the process industry are tuned satisfactorily, but with the methods available today it is considered too time-consuming to optimize each single controller. 15. Consensus Trade-offs in Wireless Sensor Networks
Abstract : As more and more everyday electronic devices become equipped with the combined re- sources of computation, sensing, and wireless communications, possible platforms for implementation of wireless sensor networks have become ubiquitous. The combination of these three main capabilities of such a network present the opportunity to for example gather high resolution measurement data, or cooperatively perform advanced computa- tional tasks.
