16. Model Vertices Beyond the GW Approximation
Abstract : We study the effects of local vertex corrections to the self energy of the electron gas. We find that a vertex derived from time-dependent density-functional theory can give accurate self energies without including the explicit time dependence of the exchange-correlation potential provided, however, that a proper decay at large momentum transfer (large q) is built into the vertex function. 17. Temporal Studies of Molecular Processes using Resonant Spectroscopy : Femtosecond experiments with synchrotron radiation and pulsed lasers
Abstract : The physical and chemical properties of matter are to a high degree determined by the electronic structure. One of the most powerful experimental techniques to study the electronic structure is electron spectroscopy. READ MORE

18. On dynamic properties of rubber isolators
Abstract : This work aims at enhancing the understanding and to provideimproved models of the dynamic behavior of rubber vibrationisolators which are widely used in mechanical systems.Initially, a time domainmodel relating compressions tocomponent forces accounting for preload effects, frequency anddynamic amplitude dependence is presented. 19. Modelling organic matter dynamics in aquatic systems
Abstract : Organic matter is a small but active part of the global carbon cycle. About one third is stored in the oceans where it has a relatively short residence time. The rest is found in the terrestrial biomass and in the soil. Aquatic systems exchange C02 with the atmosphere. READ MORE

20. Electrical properties of polycrystalline silicon
Abstract : Polysilicon is used, among other materials, in today's integrated circuits. In this thesis, the structural and electrical properties' of polysilicon thin film resistors have been studied. The aim has been to improve the long-term stability and increase the knowledge concerning grain-boundary related phenomena. READ MORE
