  1. 1. Timing Modes for the MAX IV Storage Rings

    Author : Teresia Olsson; Lunds universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Synchrotron light storage rings; timing experiments; ultralow emittance; harmonic cavities; fill patterns; PPRE; PSB; Fysicumarkivet A:2018:Olsson;

    Abstract : The MAX IV facility includes two storage rings, operated at 1.5 and 3 GeV energy, for the purpose of producing high-brilliance synchrotron radiation for users. The 1.5 GeV ring replaces the previous MAX II and MAX III storage rings as a source of UV and soft X-rays, whereas the 3 GeV ring is optimized for hard X-rays. READ MORE

  2. 2. Measurements of the Standard Model Higgs boson cross sections in the WW* decay mode with the ATLAS experiment

    Author : P. Edvin Sidebo; Jonas Strandberg; Markus Klute; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; p p: colliding beams; Higgs particle: hadroproduction; Higgs particle: decay; cross section: measured; High energy physics: experimental; Timing detectors; p p: scattering; ATLAS; Cern LHC Coll; Fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : This thesis summarises measurements of the Standard Model Higgs boson production cross sections based on proton–proton collision data at √s = 13 TeV produced by the Large Hadron Collider at CERN. By analysing data collected during 2015 and 2016 by the ATLAS experiment, corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 36 fb−1, the Higgs boson gluon–gluon fusion and vector boson fusion production cross sections are measured in the WW* decay mode. 3. 3. Isotope-Selective Spectroscopy: Fast Timing R&D and fp-Shell Mirror Isomers

    Author : Robert Hoischen; Kärnfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; mirror isomer; time of flight; plastic scintillator; fast timing; time resolution; Fysicumarkivet A:2011:Hoischen;

    Abstract : This thesis highlights the research and development of a new plastic-scintillator detector for time-of-flight measurements in relativistic heavy-ion beam experiments. The detector makes possible the identification of different ion species on flight distances as short as a few meters. READ MORE

  4. 4. Improvements for IceCube Event Reconstruction through Geometry Calibration and Photon Timing Distributions

    Author : Matti Jansson; Klas Hultqvist; Chad Findley; Aart Heijboer; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Large detector systems for particle and astroparticle physics; Neutrino detectors; Splines; Maximum likelihood; Physics; fysik;

    Abstract : The origin of high-energy cosmic rays is an unsolved mystery because cosmic rays do not travel in a straight line but are bent by magnetic fields due to their electric charge. High energy neutrinos are predicted to be created close to these origins, and are an unambiguous probe, while gamma rays could be obscured or created by other processes. READ MORE
