  1. 1. On tooth movements and associated tissue alterations related to edentulous areas and bone defects

    Author : Birgitta Lindskog Stokland; Göteborgs universitet; Göteborgs universitet; Gothenburg University; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Orthodontics; periodontics; interdisciplinary treatment; infrabony pockets; edentulous areas; dimensional changes; elongation; continuous eruption; tipping;

    Abstract : The aim of the thesis was to study orthodontic tooth movement in relation to edentulous areas and infrabony pockets as well as the physiological movement of teeth facing an edentulous area. A dog model was used in Studies I and II. READ MORE

    Abstract : Essay 1: This paper studies tipping behaviour in the residential mobility of the native population inSweden between 1990 and 2007. Using regression discontinuity methods, we find that thegrowth in native population in a neighbourhood discontinuously drops once aneighbourhood’s immigrant share exceeds the identified tipping point. Abstract : Tropical rainforests in the Amazon and Congo River basins and their climate are mutually dependent. Evaporation from these forests help regulate the regional and global water cycle. Furthermore, these rainforests themselves depend on precipitation to sustain their structure and functions. READ MORE

  4. 4. Seawater intrusion risks and controls for safe use of coastal groundwater under multiple change pressures

    Author : Aikaterini Mazi; Georgia Destouni; Adrian Werner; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; seawater intrusion; coastal aquifer; tipping points; safe operating space; analytical solution; Physical Geography; naturgeografi;

    Abstract : In the era of intense pressures on water resources, the loss of groundwater by increased seawater intrusion (SWI), driven by climate, sea level and landscape changes, may be critical for many people living in commonly populous coastal regions. Analytical solutions have been derived here for interface flow in coastal aquifers, which allow for simple quantification of SWI under extended conditions from previously available such solutions and are suitable for first-order regional vulnerability assessment and mapping of the implications of climate- and landscape-driven change scenarios and related comparisons across various coastal world regions. 5. 5. The arrival of the tipping point of solar photovoltaic technology

    Author : Ying Yang; Jinyue Yan; Reinhard Madlener; Mälardalens högskola; []
    Keywords : SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; industriell ekonomi och organisation; Industrial Economics and Organisations;

    Abstract : Solar photovoltaic (PV) technology has become well-established for addressing both greenhouse gas emission reductions and regional air pollution. Rapid developments within the solar PV sector are still facing various technical barriers, economic impediments, and institutional barriers. READ MORE
