  1. 11. Attenuation of hand-held machine vibrations. Application of non-linear tuned vibration absorber

    Author : Hans Lindell; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Impact machine; Hand-arm vibration; High frequency vibration; ATVA; Nonlinear tuned vibration absorber; White finger; HAVS; Transient vibration; Auto Tuned Vibration Absorber; Vibration dynamics; ISO 5349;

    Abstract : Vibration injury in the hand-arm system from vibrating hand-held machines is one of the most common occupational health injuries and causes severe and often chronic nerve and vascular injuries to the operator. The objective with this study is to contribute to reduce hand-arm vibration injuries, first by developing methods of redesigning machines that will lower their vibration level and second to study how high frequency vibrations (HFV) above 1250 Hz effect the finger tissue which are not included in the current standard for risk evaluation. 2. 12. Antenna Design, Radiobiological Modelling, and Non-invasive Monitoring for Microwave Hyperthermia

    Author : Morteza Ghaderi Aram; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; UWB Antennas; Bio-Electromagnetics; Hyperthermia; Microwave Thermometry; Radiobiological Modeling;

    Abstract : The death toll of cancers is on the rise worldwide and surviving patients suffer significant side effects from conventional therapies. To reduce the level of toxicity in patients treated with the conventional treatment modalities, hyperthermia (HT) has been investigated as an adjuvant modality and shown to be a potent tumor cell sensitizer for radio- and chemotherapy. 3. 13. New methods for evaluation of tissue creping and the importance of coating, paper and adhesion

    Author : Jonna Boudreau; Christophe Barbier; Ulf Germgård; Sverker Albertsson; Robert Pelton; Karlstads universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; tissue; creping; paper adhesion; Tissue paper; creping; paper adhesion; coating layer; adhesives; Yankee cylinder; crepe structure; wavelength measurements; Chemical Engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Abstract : The creping process and the conditions on the Yankee cylinder dryer are key factors in a tissue paper mill, and they therefore need to be kept under good control in order to maintain a high and uniform quality. To this end it would be valuable to be able to make on-line measurements of Yankee coating thickness as well as the crepe structure of the tissue paper. READ MORE

  4. 14. Engineering Nanotherapeutic Strategies for Osteoarthritis Treatment

    Author : Ula von Mentzer; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; nanoparticles; nanomedicine; cartilage; osteoarthritis;

    Abstract : Osteoarthritis (OA), the most prevalent joint disorder, is characterized by the degeneration of cartilage tissue leading to pain, stiffness, and impaired mobility. Primarily affecting the elderly, OA can also impact athletes, postmenopausal women, and individuals with conditions like diabetes. READ MORE

  5. 15. Optimizing microwave hyperthermia antenna systems

    Author : Pegah Takook; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; head and neck tumors.; wideband antenna; microwave hyperthermia; time reversal;

    Abstract : This thesis presents design and optimization of a microwave hyperthermia antenna system for treatment of head and neck cancer as well as brain cancer. Hyperthermia has shown the ability to enhance the performance of radiotherapy and chemotherapy in many clinical trials. READ MORE
