41. High-Frequency ECG in Ischemic Heart Disease
Abstract : Analysis of high-frequency QRS components (HF-QRS) is one of the emerging methods for increasing the diagnostic performance of the electrocardiogram (ECG). The overall objective of the thesis is to investigate whether analysis of HF-QRS has the ability to provide information about ischemic heart disease and so serve as an adjunctive diagnostic tool in several clinical situations. 42. The Role of Projected Anatomy, Random Noise, and Spatial Resolution on Clinical Image Quality in Digital Mammography
Abstract : Due to the recent advances in digital detector technology, there is an increasing trend in the use of digital mammography (DM) as a concurrent modality with screen-film mammography (SFM). In order to fully realize its potential, the components of a DM system should be optimized with respect to clinical image quality in order for clinicians to make accurate diagnoses. READ MORE

43. Arterial wall stiffness in man. On gender differences and abnormalities in insulin dependent diabetes mellitus and alpha1-antitrypsin deficiency
Abstract : The mechanical properties of major arteries may reflect early manifestations of vascular disease and are also of interest because they are important for cardiac work. Using echo-tracking sonography and blood pressure measurements, arterial stiffness and diameters were investigated in healthy individuals as well as in patients with insulin dependent diabetes mellitus (IDDM) or alpha1-antitrypsin deficiency (alpha1-AT deficiency). 44. Orthopaedic measurements with computed radiography. Methodological development, accuracy, and radiation dose with special reference to the weight-bearing lower extremity and the dislocating patella
Abstract : The overall aim of this study was to develop and evaluate a measurement system for computed radiography (CR) and Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS), permitting measurements of long distances and angles in and between related images. The developed measurement system, which was based on the QUESTOR Precision Radiography (QPR) system, was applied to the weight-bearing knee with special reference to the dislocating patella.
