  1. 1. Tool steel for tool holder applications : microstructure and mechanical properties

    Author : Anna Medvedeva; Jens Bergström; Birger Karlsson; Karlstads universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; tool steel; tool holder; microstructure; mechanical properties; machinability; Materials science; Teknisk materialvetenskap;

    Abstract : Large improvements in cutting tool design and technology, including the application of advanced surface engineering treatments on the cemented carbide insert, have been achieved in the last decades to enhance tool performance. However, the problem of improving the tool body material is not adequately studied. READ MORE

  2. 2. Very high cycle fatigue of high performance steels

    Author : Vitaliy Kazymyrovych; Karlstads universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; fatigue; tool steels; ultrasonic testing; fatigue life; crack growth rate; fatigue mechanisms; Materialteknik; Materials Engineering;

    Abstract : Many engineering components reach a finite fatigue life well above 109 load cycles. Some examples of such components are found in airplanes, automobiles or high speed trains. For some materials the fatigue failures have lately been found to occur well after 107 load cycles, namely in the Very High Cycle Fatigue (VHCF) range. READ MORE

  3. 3. Performance of advanced tool steels for cutting tool bodies

    Author : Anna Medvedeva; Jens Bergström; Pavel Krakhmalev; Staffan Gunnarsson; Volker Schulze; Karlstads universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; tool steel; cutting tool body; fatigue strength; stress relaxation; machinability; high-temperature properties; microstructure; Materials science; Teknisk materialvetenskap; Materialteknik; Materials Engineering;

    Abstract : Performance of indexable insert cutting tools is not only about the performance of cutting inserts. It is also about the cutting tool body, which has to provide a secure and accurate insert positioning as well as its quick and easy handling under severe working conditions. READ MORE

  4. 4. Very high cycle fatigue of tool steels

    Author : Vitaliy Kazymyrovych; Jens Bergström; Arne Melander; Karlstads universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; fatigue; crack growth; ultrasonic testing; tool steels; inclusions; Materialteknik; Materials Engineering;

    Abstract : An increasing number of engineering components are expected to have fatigue life in the range of 107 - 1010 load cycles. Some examples of such components are found in airplanes, automobiles and high speed trains. READ MORE

  5. 5. Microstructure and Fatigue Analysis of PM-HIPed Alloys : A Focus on Inconel 625 and High-Nitrogen Tool Steel
