  1. 16. Very high cycle fatigue of high performance steels

    Author : Vitaliy Kazymyrovych; Karlstads universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; fatigue; tool steels; ultrasonic testing; fatigue life; crack growth rate; fatigue mechanisms; Materialteknik; Materials Engineering;

    Abstract : Many engineering components reach a finite fatigue life well above 109 load cycles. Some examples of such components are found in airplanes, automobiles or high speed trains. For some materials the fatigue failures have lately been found to occur well after 107 load cycles, namely in the Very High Cycle Fatigue (VHCF) range. READ MORE

  2. 17. The Metallurgical Aspects of Machinability in Prehardened Mould Steels

    Author : Seyyed Mohammad Hamed Hoseiny; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Bainitic structure; Tool Life; Cutting Temperature; Cutting Force; Machinability; Microstructure; Tempered Martensite; Plastic Mould Steels;

    Abstract : High economical efficiency obtained by utilizing prehardened mould steels in plastic mould making has increased the usage of these types of steels to a great extent. Generally, prehardened mould steels are applied for large moulds and moulds for moderate production runs, and one of the advantages of using this type of steel is that no heat treatment is necessary for putting the mould in use. 3. 18. Galling of high strength steels and stainless steels in sheet metal forming as evaluated using pin-on-disc testing

    Author : Jenny Eriksson; Mikael Olsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Galling; sheet metal forming; high strength steels; stainless steels; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot tribomaterial; Engineering Science with specialization in Tribo Materials;

    Abstract : The thesis focuses on the problem galling in sheet metal forming operations. Galling occurs when sheet metal transfers from the sheet surface onto the tool surface and causes surface damages to following sheets in the forming operation. When this happens the tool must be replaced causing production stops and additional expenses. READ MORE

  4. 19. Influence of Microstructure on the Machinability of Prehardened Mould Steels

    Author : Seyyed Mohammad Hamed Hoseiny; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Prehardened mould steels; Milling; Drilling; Turning; Tool life; Machinability;

    Abstract : Mould steels are mainly employed in moulding of plastic products, and also some metals withlow melting temperature such as magnesium alloys. The ever-growing usage of plastics in theindustry, especially the automotive industry, and in everyday life, has increased the utilizationof mould steels. READ MORE

  5. 20. On wear of wood-cutting tools : Tool materials, wear mechanisms and modelling

    Author : Johan Nordström; []
    Keywords : Tool material; Wood cutting; Wear; Modelling;

    Abstract : Bandsaw blades are commonly used in the sawmill industry for timber cutting. The saw teeth are gradually worn during cutting and will finally cause unacceptable surface roughness and dimensional deviations on the sawn wood product. Maintenance by re-sharpening of the saw teeth is therefore necessary after a certain time of sawing. READ MORE
