  1. 6. Phase equilibria and thermodynamic properties of high-alloy tool steels : theoretical and experimental approach

    Author : Johan Bratberg; John Ågren; Bengt Hallstedt; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; thermodynamic modelling; thermodynamic calculations; tool steels; high-speed steels; CALPHAD; Other materials science; Övrig teknisk materialvetenskap;

    Abstract : The recent development of tool steels and high-speed steels has led to a significant increase in alloy additions, such as Co, Cr, Mo, N, V, and W. Knowledge about the phase relations in these multicomponent alloys, that is, the relative stability between different carbides or the solubility of different elements in the carbides and in the matrix phase, is essential for understanding the behaviour of these alloys in heat treatments. 2. 7. Multicomponent diffusional reactions in tool steels : Experiment and Theory

    Author : Greta Lindwall; Malin Selleby; Karin Frisk; John Ågren; Carelyn Campbell; KTH; []
    Keywords : hot-work tool steel; precipitation hardening; DICTRA; coarsening; mobilities; CALPHAD; cobalt; PM tool stees; nitrogen; compound materials;

    Abstract : Many phenomena determining the microstructure of a tool steel and consequently the properties of the material, are governed by multicomponent diffusion. The diffusion driven reactions that take place during, for example, tempering of a hot-work tool steel or when the microstructure develops during hot isostatic pressing of cold-work tool steel, are dependent on the types and amounts of alloying elements. 4. 9. Microstructure and Properties of Additively Manufactured Tool Steels for Hot Stamping

    Author : Miwen Yuan; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Tool Steels; Wear; Hot stamping; Additive Manufacturing; Softening Resistance;

    Abstract : Hot work tool steels are commonly used to produce dies for hot stamping, where the steels are exposed to cyclic thermal and mechanical loads. There is a constant demand to improve the lifetime of the dies. Additive manufacturing (AM) provides new solutions for tool design. READ MORE

  5. 10. Chromium martensitic hot-work tool steels : damage, performance and microstructure

    Author : Johnny Sjöström; Jens Bergström; Farhad Rezai-Aria; Karlstads universitet; []
    Keywords : Hot-work tool steel; thermal fatigue; microstructure; Materialteknik; Materials Engineering;

    Abstract : Chromium martensitic hot-work tool steel (AISI H13) is commonly used as die material in hot forming techniques such as die casting, hot rolling, extrusion and hot forging. They are developed to endure the severe conditions by high mechanical properties attained by a complex microstructure. READ MORE
