  1. 1. Experimental Fission Studies at Intermediate Energies

    Author : Klas Elmgren; Ralf Nolte; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Nuclear physics; Kärnfysik; Nuclear physics; Kärnfysik; Applied Nuclear Physics; tillämpad kärnfysik;

    Abstract : A series of nuclear fission experiments have been performed in the intermediate energy range. The dynamics of the fission process have been studied by means of detection of neutrons emitted from compound nuclei formed by ion beams of protons, α-particles, and 12C-ions, all at a beam energy of 100 MeV. 2. 2. Experimental data and Total Monte Carlo : Towards justified, transparent and complete nuclear data uncertainties

    Author : Petter Helgesson; Henrik Sjöstrand; Arjan Koning; Stephan Pomp; Dimitri Rochman; Klaes-Håkan Bejmer; Denise Neudecker; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Fysik med inriktning mot tillämpad kärnfysik; Physics with specialization in Applied Nuclear Physics;

    Abstract : The applications of nuclear physics are many with one important being nuclear power, which can help decelerating the climate change. In any of these applications, so-called nuclear data (ND, numerical representations of nuclear physics) is used in computations and simulations which are necessary for, e.g., design and maintenance. 3. 3. Colloidal interactions obtained from total internal reflection microscopy measurements and scattering data

    Author : Moheb Nayeri; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; total internal reflection microscopy; colloidal stability; van der Waals interaction; Debye length; surfactants; depletion; scattering; colloidal stability;

    Abstract : The scattering of radiation can be used to extract information about the interactions between colloidal (10^{-7}-10^{-3} cm radius) particles suspended in liquids. As colloidal interactions incorporate entropic effects they are weak and while system specific they are governed by a number of general mechanisms. READ MORE

  4. 4. Model Vertices Beyond the GW Approximation

    Author : Mikael Hindgren; Matematisk fysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Matematisk och allmän teoretisk fysik; thermodynamics; statistical physics; gravitation; GW approximation; Electron self energy; Green s function; consistency; local-field corrections; vertex function; conserving approximations; variational energies; Mathematical and general theoretical physics; classical mechanics; relativity; quantum mechanics; klassisk mekanik; kvantmekanik; relativitet; statistisk fysik; termodynamik; Fysicumarkivet A:1997:Hindgren;

    Abstract : We study the effects of local vertex corrections to the self energy of the electron gas. We find that a vertex derived from time-dependent density-functional theory can give accurate self energies without including the explicit time dependence of the exchange-correlation potential provided, however, that a proper decay at large momentum transfer (large q) is built into the vertex function. 5. 5. The initial phase of the sodium bisulfite pulping of softwood dissolving pulp

    Author : Raghu Deshpande; Ulf Germgård; Martin Ragnar; Karlstads universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Activation energy; bisulfite pulping; cellulose; delignification; extractives; glucomannan; hemicelluloses; lignin; pine; spruce; thiosulfate; total SO2; xylan; Chemical Engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Abstract : The sulfite pulping process is today practised in only a small number of pulp mills around the globe and the number of sulfite mills that use sodium as the base (cation) is less than five. However, due to the increasing interest in the wood based biorefinery concept, the benefits of sulfite pulping and especially the sodium based variety, has recently gained a lot of interest. READ MORE
