  1. 1. Does acetylcholin play a role in mitosis of V79 Chinese hamster cells?

    Author : Cecilia Söderpalm-Berndes; Stephen M Wolniak; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Genetics; Genetik; toxikologisk genetik; Genetic Toxicology;

    Abstract : The first stages of mitosis are governed by a cascade of phosphorylations brought about by the universal MPF kinase complex. From a regulatory point of view, less is known about late mitotic events. READ MORE

  2. 2. Spontaneous and induced mutations at the human minisatellite MS32 in yeast

    Author : Henrik Appelgren; Yuri Dubrova; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; toxikologisk genetik; Genetic Toxicology;

    Abstract : Tandem repetitive DNA including minisatellites make up a large part of eukaryotic genomes, and some tandem repetitive loci are associated with human disease. Little is known about the functions and dynamics of these sequences. Hypervariable minisatellites are used as naturally occurring genetic markers and form the basis of DNA fingerprinting. READ MORE

  3. 3. Mitotic recombination in mammalian cells

    Author : Catherine Arnaudeau; Harry Vrieling; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; toxikologisk genetik; Genetic Toxicology;

    Abstract : Recombination is usually defined as the exchange of genetic material between two strands or regions of nucleic acids. This process occurs in all known organisms and is highly conserved, especially among higher eukaryotes. Various types of recombination, involving homologous or non-homologous nucleic acid sequences, are known to exist. READ MORE

  4. 4. Aspects of cytokinesis with particular emphasis on induction of aneuploidy and determination of the cleavage plane

    Author : Niklas Schultz; Sluder Greenfiels; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; toxikologisk genetik; Genetic Toxicology;

    Abstract : This thesis focuses primarily on three aspects on cleavage: the relationship between failure of cleavage and aneuploidy; disruption of the cleavage process by hydrophobic chemicals; and the positioning of the spindle and, thus, the cleavage plane. The established Chinese V79 hamster fibroblast cell line was used as the experimental system. READ MORE

  5. 5. Tryptophan photoproducts : regulation of CYP1A1 transcription and modulation of cell growth

    Author : Yu-Dan Wei; Dieter Schrenk; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; toxikologisk genetik; Genetic Toxicology;

    Abstract : The aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AhR) is a ligand-activated transcription factor involved in the regulation of many drug-metabolizing enzymes. The regulation of cytochrome P4501A1 (CYP1A1) has been most intensively studied. READ MORE
