  2. 2. Wheelset Structural Flexibility and Track Flexibility in Vehicle-Track Dynamic Interaction

    University dissertation from Stockholm : KTH

    Author : Nizar Chaar; KTH.; [2007]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Vehicle-track dynamic interaction; wheelset structural flexibility; NATURAL SCIENCES Physics Condensed matter physics Structural and vibration physics; NATURVETENSKAP Fysik Kondenserade materiens fysik Struktur- och vibrationsfysik;

    Abstract : This thesis investigates the influence of wheelset structural flexibility and track flexibility on the vehicle-track dynamic interaction, mainly in terms of wheel-rail forces up to 200 Hz, using simulations and measurements. The previous knowledge in this field is first reviewed and summarized, then two case studies are selected for investigation. READ MORE

  3. 3. Rail Corrugation Growth on Curves

    University dissertation from Stockholm : KTH

    Author : Peter Torstensson; [2009]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; simulation; track and wheelset structural flexibility; small radius curves; short-pitch rail corrugation; dynamic vehicle–track interaction; test rig and field measurements; wear;

    Abstract : Short-pitch rail corrugation that may develop on the low (inner) rail on small radius curves causes increased noise and vibration levels on railway networks worldwide. In lack of a generally applicable treatment, track authorities are forced to run expensive rail grinding programs on a regular basis to manage these problems. READ MORE

  4. 4. Simulation of dynamic interaction between train and turnout

    University dissertation from Göteborg : Chalmers university press

    Author : Elias Kassa Gebretsadik; Elias Kassa; [2004]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; SRA - Transport; SRA - Transport; dynamic train–turnout interaction; wheel–rail contact geometry; switches and crossings; multibody dynamics; contact forces;

    Abstract : Dynamic train–track interaction is more complex in railway turnouts (switches & crossings) than on ordinary tangent or curved tracks. Multiple contacts between wheel and rail are common, and severe impact loads with broad frequency contents are induced when the nominal wheel–rail contact conditions are disturbed due to the continuous variation in rail profiles and the discontinuities in the crossing panel.
