  1. 1. System Design for Opportunistic Networks

    Author : Sylvia T. Kouyoumdjieva; Gunnar Karlsson; Andrea Passarella; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; opportunistic communication; system design; mobility; energy-saving mechanisms; device-to-device communication; mobile data offloading; Electrical Engineering; Elektro- och systemteknik;

    Abstract : Device-to-device communication has been suggested as a complement to traditional cellular networks as a means of offloading cellular traffic. In this thesis we explore a solution for device-to-device communication based on opportunistic content distribution in a content-centric network. READ MORE

  2. 2. Window-based congestion control : Modeling, analysis and design

    Author : Niels Möller; Karl Henrik Johansson; Rayadurgam Srikant; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Internet; Congestion control; Window-based; Telecommunication; Telekommunikation;

    Abstract : This thesis presents a model for the ACK-clock inner loop, common to virtually all Internet congestion control protocols, and analyzes the stability properties of this inner loop, as well as the stability and fairness properties of several window update mechanisms built on top of the ACK-clock. Aided by the model for the inner-loop, two new congestion control mechanisms are constructed, for wired and wireless networks. READ MORE

  3. 3. Unequal Probability Sampling in Active Learning and Traffic Safety

    Author : Henrik Imberg; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; naturalistic driving; active learning; sampling weighing; optimal design; sequential sampling; probability sampling;

    Abstract : This thesis addresses a problem arising in large and expensive experiments where incomplete data come in abundance but statistical analyses require collection of additional information, which is costly. Out of practical and economical considerations, it is necessary to restrict the analysis to a subset of the original database, which inevitably will cause a loss of valuable information; thus, choosing this subset in a manner that captures as much of the available information as possible is essential. 4. 4. Designing Urban Road Congestion Charging Systems : Models and Heuristic Solution Approaches

    Author : Joakim Ekström; Jan Lundgren; Anders Karlström; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : transport modeling; congestion pricing; network design; bi-level optimization; toll locations; traffic assignment; user equilibrium; collection cost; TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIKVETENSKAP;

    Abstract : The question of how to design a congestion pricing scheme is difficult to answer and involves a number of complex decisions. This thesis is devoted to the quantitative parts of designing a congestion pricing scheme with link tolls in an urban car traffic network. READ MORE

  5. 5. Optimizing Massive MIMO : Precoder Design and Power Allocation

    Author : Hei Victor Cheng; Erik G. Larsson; Marius Pesavento; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY;

    Abstract : The past decades have seen a rapid growth of mobile data traffic,both in terms of connected devices and data rate. To satisfy the evergrowing data traffic demand in wireless communication systems, thecurrent cellular systems have to be redesigned to increase both spectralefficiency and energy efficiency. READ MORE
