  1. 11. The Politics of Legal Challenges to Pornography: Canada, Sweden, and the United States

    Author : Max Waltman; Jonas Tallberg; Catharine A. MacKinnon; Amy Mazur; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; pornography; prostitution; trafficking; gender-based violence; sex equality; intersectionality; freedom of speech; democracy; sexual abuse; comparative politics; civil rights; comparative law; equality law; violence against women; Canada; Sweden; United States; judicial politics; legislative politics; Political Science; statsvetenskap;

    Abstract : The dissertation analyzes obstacles and potential in democracies, specifically Canada, Sweden, and United States, to effectively address empirically documented harms of pornography. Legislative and judicial challenges under different democratic and legal frameworks are compared. READ MORE

  2. 12. The Role of Membrane Trafficking in G Protein-Coupled Receptor Regulation

    Author : Johan Enquist; Drug Target Discovery; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medicin människa och djur ; Medicine human and vertebrates ; downregulation; recycling; resensitization; desensitization; GPCR; membrane trafficking;

    Abstract : Movements of a receptor in the plasma membrane and within the cell influence receptor function and physiology. I have investigated the role of such movements, generally known as membrane trafficking, in G protein-coupled receptor regulation. READ MORE

  3. 13. G protein-coupled receptor regulation: The role of protein interactions and receptor trafficking

    Author : Caroline Sandén; Drug Target Discovery; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; receptor trafficking; B1 receptor; receptor oligomerization; estrogen; GPER1; G protein-coupled estrogen receptor 1; EP24.15; BK; bradykinin; B1R; B2R; B2 receptor; GPCR; receptor maturation;

    Abstract : The superfamily of G protein-coupled receptors (GPCR) is the largest gene family in the human genome. GPCR-mediated signaling operates in every human cell, and about 50% of existing clinically useful drugs act through GPCR. READ MORE

  4. 14. Nephrin : intracellular trafficking and podocyte maturation

    Author : Stefania Cotta Doné; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Nephrin; CNF; podocytes; glomerulus;

    Abstract : Congenital nephrotic syndrome of the Finnish type, CNF, is an autossomal recessive disorder caused by mutations in the NPHS1 gene and, consequently, in its product nephrin, a 180 kDa transmembrane protein belonging to the immunoglobulin superfamily of adhesion molecules. In kidneys, nephrin is located exclusively to the podocyte slit diaphragm and it has a key role in organising amd maintaining the renal ultrafiltation barrier. READ MORE

  5. 15. RICH-1, a Multifunctional RhoGAP Domain-containing Protein, Involved in Regulation of the Actin Filament System and Membrane-trafficking

    Author : Ninna Richnau; Pontus Aspenström; Carl-Henrik Heldin; Bengt Hallberg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Cell and molecular biology; Rho GTPase; RhoGAP; actin; BAR domain; membrane-trafficking; formin homology proteins; Cell- och molekylärbiologi; Cell and molecular biology; Cell- och molekylärbiologi;

    Abstract : The Rho GTPases, which are related to the Ras family of proto-oncogenes, have been found to have important roles in regulating the morphogenic and migratory properties of eukaryotic cells. In addition, these proteins have been shown to regulate aspects of cell signaling, cell growth, cell division and cell survival. READ MORE
