16. Computational study of rivulets using Volume of Fluid
Abstract : This thesis focuses on numerical methods of soiling and some multiphase concepts related to it.The Volume of Fluid method was tested in two different test cases and showed fairly good results. The first test case was a gravity driven rivulet on an inclined plate, where it was an inlet with a constant water velocity at the beginning of the plate. 17. Potential Flow Panel Methods for the Calculation of Free-surface Flows with Lift
Abstract : Two non-linear Rankine-source panel methods are developed and implemented in the same computer code. The first method uses a four-point upwind operator on the free-surface to compute the velocity derivatives and to enforce the radiation condition while the second method uses an analytical expression for the velocity derivatives and a collocation point shift one panel upstream to prevent upstream waves. 18. Numerical study on multi-pantograph railway operation at high speed
Abstract : Multi-pantograph operation allows several short electric multiple unit (EMU) trainsets to be coupled or decoupled to adapt to daily or seasonal passenger-flow variation. Although this is a convenient and efficient way to operate rolling stock and use railway infrastructure, pantographs significantly influence each other and even significantly change the dynamic behaviour of the system compared to single-pantograph operation in the same condition. 19. Flow and turbulence in the discharge stream of different agitators for stirred tanks
Abstract : In this thesis, the fluid dynamic properties of the conventional Rushton turbine and another impeller type, the Scaba Radial flow Gas dispersing Turbine (with six concave blades) are compared. For comparison, point-wise velocity measurements were made in the discharge of the two turbine types using Hot-Wire Anemometry in constant temperature mode (CTA) with a split film probe. READ MORE

20. Advances in vortical flow prediction methods for design of delta-winged aircraft
Abstract : This thesis covers the field of vortex-flow dominated external aerodynamics. As part of the contribution to the AVT-113 task group it was possible to prove the feasibility of high Reynolds number CFD computations to resolve and thus better understand the peculiar dual vortex system encountered on the VFE-2 blunt leading edge delta wing at low to moderate incidences.
