1. Programming and updaing of reaching movements
Abstract : Neuronal activity in the motor cortex (area 4) was recorded during reaching movements in cats, trained to perform target-reaching in response to a tone burst. Out of 350 task related neurones 12% generated short latency (20?110 ms) sensory responses to the cue triggering the reaching movement. READ MORE

2. Seamless Millimeter-wave Connectivity via Efficient Beamforming and Handover
Abstract : Extremely high data rate demands, and the spectrum scarcity at the microwave bands, make the millimeter wave (mmWave) band a promising solution to satisfy the high data rate demands in wireless networks. The main advantage of moving to the mmWave spectrum is the availability of large bandwidth. READ MORE

3. Location-aided Beam Alignment and Handover in Millimeter-wave Networks
Abstract : Ever-increasing data rate demands in mobile networks and the spectrum scarcity at the microwave bands have resulted in the exploration of millimeter-wave (mmWave) frequencies for the next generation of wireless networks. While mmWave frequencies offer large bandwidth, communication at these frequencies is not straightforward due to the challenging propagation characteristics. READ MORE

4. Modelling Allelic and DNA Copy Number Variations using Continuous-index Hidden Markov Models
Abstract : In human cells there are usually two copies of each chromosome, but in cancer cells abnormalities could exist. The differences consist of segments of chromosomes with an altered number of copies. There can be deletions as well as amplifications and the lengths of the segments can also vary. READ MORE

5. Path integral control endowed robot planning under spatiotemporal logic specifications
Abstract : The increasing level of autonomy and intelligence of robotic systems in carrying out complex tasks can be expected to revolutionize both the industry and our everyday lives. This thesis takes a step towards automation by leveraging the power of path integral control (PIC) methods for solving control problems under such task satisfaction constraints in both a stochastic control and a reinforcement learning setting.
