  1. 1. Evaluation of local feed resources for hybrid catfish (Clarias macrocephalus x C. gariepinus) in smallholder fish farming systems in central Vietnam

    Author : Tram Nguyen Duy Quynh; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Keywords : LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : The aim of this thesis was to examine the current feeding situation for fresh water fish in Central Vietnam, to evaluate the potential nutritive value of locally available feed resources for hybrid catfish (Clarias macrocephalus x C. gariepinus) and Nile tilapia, to determine the dietary requirement of lysine for hybrid catfish, to estimate the requirements for the other essential amino acids (EAA) by using ideal protein concept, and finally to evaluate the suitability of cassava leaf meal and shrimp head meal as a partial replacement for fish meal in the diet, without or with lysine supplementation, for hybrid catfish fingerlings. 2. 2. Understanding Individuals' Learning and Decision Processes in a Changing Environment by Using Panel Data

    Author : Nursitihazlin Ahmad Termida; Yusak Susilo; Joel Franklin; Kiron Chatterjee; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Behavioural responses; seasons; panel data; travel diary; activity-travel pattern; theory of planned behaviour; space-time constraint; changing environment; tram; Stockholm; Transportvetenskap; Transport Science;

    Abstract : When a new transport service is introduced, people have to learn and familiarize themselves with the new service before they decide to adopt it. These processes are developed over time, thus produce dynamics in individuals’ behavioural responses towards the service. This affects the demand of the new service, thus affect revenues. READ MORE

  3. 3. Pedicled and free TRAM flaps in breast reconstructions : a comparative study

    Author : Åsa Edsander-Nord; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : breast reconstruction; TRAM; pedicled flap; free flap; microdialysis; monitoring; flap circulation; flap metabolism; glucose; lactate; glycerol; abdominal muscles; trunk muscle strength; KIN-COM; quantitative sensory testing; tactile perception threshold; thermal perception threshold; breast volume; thermoplastic; quality of life; SF-36; esthetic evaluation; applanation tonometry;

    Abstract : The transverse rectus abdominis musculocutaneous (TRAM) flap is frequently used when autologous tissue is desired for breast reconstruction, and it can be transferred pedicled or free. The pedicled TRAM flap is elevated as a lower transverse abdominal flap with the rectus abdominis muscle attached in the epigastric area, by which means the deep superior epigastric vessels nourish the flap. 4. 4. Mucosal receptors involved in pathogen recognition and host defence

    Author : Majlis Svensson; immunologi och glykobiologi - MIG Avdelningen för mikrobiologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; nefrologi; Urologi; nephrology; Urology; Infections; Infektioner;

    Abstract : Urinary tract infection is the most common infection in man. P fimbriae are virulence factors of uro-pathogenic Escherichia coli. They are expressed by 70-90 % of acute pyelonephritis isolates and up to 100% of the most virulent isolates that cause bacteremia. READ MORE

  5. 5. Role of TLR4 in Escherichia coli urinary tract infection

    Author : Patrik Samuelsson; immunologi och glykobiologi - MIG Avdelningen för mikrobiologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; mykologi; virologi; mycology; Mikrobiologi; bakteriologi; serologi; transplantation; Microbiology; virology; bacteriology; Immunologi; serology; Immunology; Pathogen; Mucosa; P-fimbriae; Toll like receptor;

    Abstract : In this thesis we have used P fimbriated E. coli as a model to investigate the mechanisms of bacterial recognition and cell activation by the urinary tract (UT) epithelium. We show that Toll like receptor 4 (TLR4) is crucial for the recognition and host response to P fimbriated E. coli. READ MORE
