  1. 1. lac of Time Transcription Factor Kinetics in Living Cells

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Petter Hammar; Johan Elf; Antoine van Oijen; [2013]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; gene regulation; transcription factor; lac operon; facilitated diffusion; single molecule imaging; Molecular Biotechnology; Molekylär bioteknik;

    Abstract : Gene regulation mediated by transcription factors (TFs) is essential for all organisms. The functionality of TFs can largely be described by the fraction of time they occupy their regulatory binding sites on the chromosome. DNA-binding proteins have been shown to find their targets through facilitated diffusion in vitro. READ MORE

  2. 2. Statistical models of TF/DNA interaction

    University dissertation from Stockholm : KTH

    Author : Aymeric Fouquier d'Herouel; Erik Aurell; Otto Berg; [2008]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; gene expression; regulation; transcription factor; binding motif; matrix representations; gibbs sampling; binding affinity; non-specific binding; NATURAL SCIENCES Physics Condensed matter physics Biological physics; NATURVETENSKAP Fysik Kondenserade materiens fysik Biologisk fysik;

    Abstract : Gene expression is regulated in response to metabolic necessities and environmental changes throughout the life of a cell.A major part of this regulation is governed at the level of transcription, deciding whether messengers to specific genes are produced or not. READ MORE

  3. 3. Characterization of the DNA-Binding Properties of the Cyanobacterial Transcription Factor NtcA

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Susanne Wisén; Uppsala universitet.; [2003]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Biochemistry; NtcA; transcription regulation; cyanobacteria; redox regulation; DNA binding; nitrogen fixation; Anabaena PCC 7120; Biokemi; MEDICINE Chemistry Biochemistry; MEDICIN Kemi Biokemi;

    Abstract : Nitrogen is an essential building block of proteins and nucleic acids and, therefore, crucial for the biosphere. Nearly 79 % of the air consists of nitrogen, but in the form of nitrogen gas (N2), which cannot be utilized by most organisms. READ MORE

  4. 4. Regulation of immunoglobulin transcription

    University dissertation from BMC Biomedical Centre, Lund University

    Author : David Liberg; [2001]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; N-substituted benzamides; NFkB; transcription; B cells; immunoglobulin; Immunology; serology; transplantation; Immunologi; serologi;

    Abstract : Each Ig V-region has its own upstream promoter and the promoter of a mature Ig gene is thereby selected during the V(D)J recombination process. Upon comparison, it is evident that only one transcription factor binding site, the octamer, is preserved within all promoters. READ MORE

  5. 5. Gene regulation by Early B-cell Factor (EBF)

    University dissertation from Department of Immunology, Lund University

    Author : Peter Åkerblad; [1999]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; serology; Immunology; B-lymphocytes; Differentiation; Transcription; EBF; Gene regulation; transplantation; Immunologi; serologi;

    Abstract : In this study we aimed at defining genes that are controlled by Early B-cell Factor (EBF), that could explain the severe block in B-cell development observed in EBF-/- mice. The fact that EBF appears to be important for the transcriptional control of genes encoding proteins in the pre-B and B-cell receptor complex implied to us that EBF could be a common regulator of other components in the pre-B and B-cell receptor.
