  1. 11. Modeling Music : Studies of Music Transcription, Music Perception and Music Production

    Author : Anders Elowsson; Anders Friberg; Pawel Herman; Anders Askenfelt; Gerhard Widmer; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Music Information Retrieval; MIR; Music; Music Transcription; Music Perception; Music Production; Tempo Estimation; Beat Tracking; Polyphonic Pitch Tracking; Polyphonic Transcription; Music Speed; Music Dynamics; Long-time average spectrum; LTAS; Algorithmic Composition; Deep Layered Learning; Convolutional Neural Networks; Rhythm Tracking; Ensemble Learning; Perceptual Features; Representation Learning;

    Abstract : This dissertation presents ten studies focusing on three important subfields of music information retrieval (MIR): music transcription (Part A), music perception (Part B), and music production (Part C).In Part A, systems capable of transcribing rhythm and polyphonic pitch are described. 2. 12. Chromatin remodelling of ribosomal genes - be bewitched by B-WICH

    Author : Anna Vintermist; Ann-Kristin Östlund Farrants; Ross D. Hannan; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; chromatin remodelling; ribosomal genes; rDNA; transcription; RNA polymerase I transcription; RNA polymerase III transcription; Cell Biology; cellbiologi;

    Abstract : Transcription of the ribosomal genes accounts for the majority of transcription in the cell due to the constant high demand for ribosomes. The number of proteins synthesized correlates with an effective ribosomal biogenesis, which is regulated by cell growth and proliferation. READ MORE

  3. 13. Genetic and Genomic Analysis of Transcriptional Regulation in Human Cells

    Author : Mehdi Motallebipour; Claes Wadelius; Gunnar Westin; Dirk Schübeler; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Transcription; ChIP-chip; ChIP-seq; genome-wide; transcription factors; microsatellite; epigenetic; Medical genetics; Medicinsk genetik;

    Abstract : There are around 20.000 genes in the human genome all of which could potentially be expressed. However, it is obvious that not all of them can be active at the same time. Thus, there is a need for coordination achieved through the regulation of transcription. READ MORE

  4. 14. Regulation of gene expression in fruit flies : how does it start, and will it be remembered?

    Author : Aman Zare; Per Stenberg; Yuri B. Schwartz; Åsa Rasmuson-Lestander; Guillaume Filion; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Drosophila; epigenetics; transcription; gene regulation; transcription maintenance; CBP; polymerase pausing; Polycomb group proteins; transgenerational inheritance of transcriptional response; gut microbiome; molekylärbiologi; Molecular Biology;

    Abstract : One of the most distinctive features of eukaryotic chromosomes is the bundling of DNA together with functionally associated RNA and proteins in chromatin. This allows huge amounts of DNA to be packed inside the very tiny space of the nucleus, and alterations in the structure of chromatin enable access to the DNA for transcription (“reading” genes by production of RNA copies). 5. 15. The interplay of transcription and chromatin regulation during embryonic development

    Author : George Hunt; Mattias Mannervik; Eileen Furlong; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; transcription; chromatin; chromatin-modifiers; p300 CBP; Polycomb repression; promoter proximal Pol II pausing; molekylär biovetenskap; Molecular Bioscience;

    Abstract : A fascinating aspect of multicellular development is the production of diverse cell types from an identical DNA genome, which depends on the ability to express different complements of genes across space and time. This thesis tries to address how the genome, within the chromatin structure that envelops it, is regulated to direct this complex process. READ MORE
