1. On Transcriptome Sequencing
Abstract : This thesis is about the use of massive DNA sequencing to investigate the transcriptome. During recent decades, several studies have made it clear that the transcriptome comprises a more complex set of biochemical machinery than was previously believed. READ MORE

2. Interpreting the human transcriptome
Abstract : The human body is made of billions of cells and nearly all have the same genome. However, there is a high diversity of cells, resulted from what part of the genome the cells use, i.e. which RNA molecules are expressed. READ MORE

3. The art of transcriptome reconstruction : with applications in Picea abies (L.) H. Karst
Abstract : Transcriptome reconstruction is an important component in the bioinformatical part of transcriptome studies. When a reference genome is missing, highly fragmented or incomplete, a de novo transcriptome assembly is the transcriptome reconstruction approach of choice, since in such situations, a simple alignment (or mapping) would not necessarily give all theinformation concerning splice junctions, isoforms or even the full extent of the gene. 4. Mining the transcriptome - methods and applications
Abstract : Regulation of gene expression occupies a central role in the control of the flow of genetic information from genes to proteins. Regulatory events on multiple levels ensure that the majority of the genes are expressed under controlled circumstances to yield temporally controlled, cell and tissue-specific expression patterns. 5. Diversifying the transcriptome : Adenosine-to-inosine RNA editing in the mammalian brain
Abstract : Metazoan transcriptomes are extensively modified by adenosine-to-inosine (A-to-I) RNA editing, a process by which adenosines within double-stranded RNA are enzymatically deaminated to form inosines. Inosines has base-pairing characteristics similar to guanosine, meaning that A-to-I RNA editing results in functional rewriting of transcripts, affecting many biological processes. READ MORE
