  1. 21. Time-resolved x-ray diffraction of nanostructured samples

    Author : A. I. H. Persson; Atomfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; x-ray diffraction; phonons; optoacoustic transducer; electron diffusion; nanowires; Fysicumarkivet A:2016:Persson;

    Abstract : The work presented in this thesis is based on time-resolved x-ray diffraction studies of InSb (111) samples. The experiments were carried out using a pump-probe configuration using short laser pulses as the pump and x-rays as the probe. Laser excitation leads to the formation of a strain pulse that propagates through the sample. READ MORE

  2. 22. Thin Film Plate Acoustic Resonators for Frequency Control and Sensing Applications

    Author : Lilia Arapan; Ventsislav Yantchev; Ilja Katardjiev; Enrique Iborra; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Electro-Acoustics; FPAR; Lamb waves; aluminium nitride; interdigital transducer; phase noise; temperature compensation; power handling; sensitivity; zero group velocity; intermode coupling; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot elektronik; Engineering Science with specialization in Electronics; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot mikrosystemteknik; Engineering Science with specialization in Microsystems Technology;

    Abstract : The recent development of the commercially viable thin film electro-acoustic technology has triggered a growing interest in the research of plate guided wave or Lamb wave components owing to their unique characteristics. In the present thesis i) an experimental study of the thin film plate resonators (FPAR) performance operating on the lowest symmetrical Lamb wave (S0) propagating in highly textured AlN membranes versus a variety of design parameters has been performed. 3. 23. Submillimeter-Wave Waveguide Frontends by Silicon-on-Insulator Micromachining

    Author : Adrian Gomez-Torrent; Joachim Oberhammer; Umer Shah; Goutam Chattopadhyay; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; antenna; orthomode transducer; switch; waveguide; radiofrequency; beamforming network; submillimeter-wave; terahertz; silicon micromachining; deep reactive ion etching; silicon on insulator; Electrical Engineering; Elektro- och systemteknik;

    Abstract : This thesis presents novel radiofrequency (RF) frontend components in the submillimeter-wave (sub-mmW) range implemented by silicon micromachining, or deep reactive ion etching (DRIE). DRIE is rapidly becoming a driving technology for the fabrication of waveguide components and systems when approaching the terahertz (THz) frequency range. READ MORE

  5. 25. How does the technical status of medical ultrasound equipment affect image quality? Studies based on human observer experiments and a novel method for automatic detection of defective transducers

    Author : Robert Lorentsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Ultrasound; defective transducer; image quality;

    Abstract : Ultrasound as an imaging modality has a fundamental role in modern healthcare. The equipment, especially transducers, is fragile and handled daily, and transducers are known to sometimes become defective. The overall aim of this thesis was to evaluate how the technical status of the equipment affects clinical image quality. READ MORE
