  1. 21. Applications of the Complex Modulation Transfer Function on SEA-systems

    Author : Karl-Ola Lundberg; Teknisk akustik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; vacuum technology; hydraulics; Mechanical engineering; modulated noise; in-situ; modulation transfer function; loss factor; SEA; vibration and acoustic engineering; Maskinteknik; hydraulik; vakuumteknik; vibrationer; akustik;

    Abstract : The SEA coupling and dissipation loss factors are determined in-situ from Complex Modulation Transfer Functions, CMTF:s, based on measured impulse-responses. A quotient of CMTF:s is least-square curve-fitted to a SEA model and the SEA loss factors are determined from the results of the curve-fit. READ MORE

  2. 22. Excited States of Carotenoids and Their Functions in Light Harvesting

    Author : Donatas Zigmantas; Kemisk fysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; spektroskopi; magnetic and optical properties; Carotenoids; light-harvesting; excited states; excitation energy transfer; femtosecond spectroscopy; supraconductors; magnetic resonance; electrical; Condensed matter:electronic structure; time-resolved fluorescence spectroscopy; magnetisk resonans; supraledare; magnetiska och optiska ; egenskaper elektriska; Kondenserade materiens egenskaper:elektronstruktur; relaxation; spectroscopy;

    Abstract : The research presented in this thesis is focused on characterization of photophysical properties of lowest singlet excited states of carotenoids and their functions in the process of photosynthetic light harvesting. It is shown that the various light-harvesting complexes utilize different strategies to achieve efficient energy transfer from carotenoids to (bacterio)chlorophylls. READ MORE

  3. 23. Characteristic of Surge Transfer Through Transformers : Study of Conventional Distribution Transformer and XLPE Cable Winding Transformer (Dryformer)

    Author : Mighanda Manyahi; Vladmiir Rakov; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physics; Fysik; Physics; Fysik; Electricity; Esp The Study Of Transients and Discharges; elektricitetslära; ssk studiet av transienter och urladdning;

    Abstract : Wide spread application and dependence on microelectronics based equipment in modern society has necessitated the study of power supply quality problems in low voltage power installations. In spite of improvements in surge protection, sensitive equipment connected to low-voltage side of distribution transformer has continued to fail due to transient voltages that are transferred through distribution transformer from high voltage circuits. 4. 24. Mechanistic Modeling of Wall-Fluid Thermal Interactions for Innovative Nuclear Systems

    Author : Roman Thiele; Henryk Anglart; Xu Cheng; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; GEN-IV reactors; Wall heat transfer; Computational Fluid Dynamics; Wall functions; Reactor design; Supercritical water; Liquid metal; Energy Technology; Energiteknik; Fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : Next generation nuclear power plants (GEN-IV) will be capable of not only producing energy in a reliable, safe and sustainable way, but they will also be capable of reducing the amount of nuclear waste, which has been accumulated over the lifetime of current-generation nuclear power plants, through transmutation. Due to the use of new and different coolants, existing computational tools need to be tested, further developed and improved in order to thermal-hydraulically design these power plants. READ MORE
