    Abstract : This thesis describes Holocene environmental change in Ottenby, southern Öland,Sweden. Analyses of pollen sequences collected distally in the Littorina ridge and in fentroughs between lower laying beach ridges show the vegetation history during twoperiods, the first around 8000 BP and the second from 0/500 AD to about present time.     Abstract : During times of lower global sea level, vast areas of the coastal shelf were exposed and converted into ecologically diverse coastal landscapes that wereattractive for human occupation.     Abstract : The glacial unloading and resulting isostatic land uplift have together with hydro-isostasy, eustatic rise of sea-level and geoidal changes, ruled the shore displacement of Fennoscandia. Within the Baltic basin, periods of damming and shifts of outlet further complicated the shore displacement during the period studied, c. 12,200-8400 BP. READ MORE

    Abstract : The Silurian foreland of Scandinavia included a vast epicontinental carbonate platform system of which the island of Gotland (Sweden) is an erosional remnant. This thesis treats the Late Wenlock succession (Cyrtograptus lundgreni, Pristiograptus dubius parvus, Gothograptus nassa, Colonograptus(?) praedeubeli, and the Co(?) deubeli zones), and emphasises the sedimentology and biostratigraphy of these deposits.
