  1. 11. Investigation of electrochemical properties and performance of stimulation/sensing electrodes for pacemaker applications

    Author : Anna Norlin; Jinshan Pan; Dieter Scharnweber; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Physical chemistry; pacemaker electrode; interfacial property; biomaterial; electrostimulation charge transfer mechanism; electrochemical impedance spectroscopy; transient processes; plasma electrolysis anodisation; porous niobium oxide; ruthenium oxide; nano-porous carbon; iridium oxide; titanium nitride; platinum; surface roughness; porous electrode; pacing impedance; electrode polarisation; Fysikalisk kemi; Physical chemistry; Fysikalisk kemi;

    Abstract : People suffering from certain types of arrhythmia may benefit from the implantation of a cardiac pacemaker. Pacemakers artificially stimulate the heart by applying short electrical pulses to the cardiac tissue to restore and maintain a steady heart rhythm. By adjusting the pulse delivery rate the heart is stimulated to beat at desired pace. READ MORE

  2. 12. Growth and characterization of SiC and GaN

    Author : Rafal Ciechonski; Erik Janzén; Sebastian Lourdudoss; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; SiC; GaN; Deep level transient spectroscopy; Minority Carrier Transient Spectroscopy; Hall effect; Cathodoluminescence; Scanning electron microscopy; Atomic Force microscopy; sublimation growth; MOCVD; heterostructures; High Electron Mobility transistor; point defects; Material physics with surface physics; Materialfysik med ytfysik;

    Abstract : At present, focus of the SiC crystal growth development is on improving the crystalline quality without polytype inclusions, micropipes and the occurrence of extended defects. The purity of the grown material, as well as intentional doping must be well controlled and the processes understood. READ MORE

  3. 13. Contributions to Modelling and Visualisation of Multibody Systems Simulations with Detailed Contact Analysis

    Author : Alexander Siemers; Dag Fritzson; Peter Fritzson; Mats G. Larson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIKVETENSKAP;

    Abstract : The steadily increasing performance of modern computer systems is having a large influence on simulation technologies. It enables increasingly detailed simulations of larger and more comprehensive simulation models. Increasingly large amounts of numerical data are produced by these simulations. READ MORE

  4. 14. Combined thermal and mechanical loading of railway wheel treads. A numerical study of material response and cracking under braking conditions

    Author : Sara Caprioli; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Rolling Contact Fatigue; Ratchetting; Tread braking; Plastic deformation; Thermal cracking;

    Abstract : The scope of the thesis is prediction of the material response owing to combined thermal and mechanical loading of a railway wheel tread. The long-term objective is to improve models for prediction of surface-initiated Rolling Contact Fatigue (RCF) under the combined effect of mechanical loading due to rolling (and sliding) contact and thermal loading due to braking and/or wheel--rail friction. 5. 15. Tribology of self-lubricating polymer composites for hydropower applications

    Author : Maria Rodiouchkina; Jens Hardell; Kim Berglund; Jan Ukonsaari; Michał Wasilczuk; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; polymer composites; hydropower; sliding wear; sliding friction; self-lubricating; transfer layers; material characterization; surface analysis; high contact pressure; low sliding speed; Machine Elements; Maskinelement;

    Abstract : The ongoing global climate crisis and its impacts calls for urgent actions, such as significant reduction of CO2 emissions by introducing more renewable energy. This has led to a rapid integration of variable power sources, such as wind and solar power, into the electricity systems. READ MORE
