  1. 21. Mechanism of Metabolite transfer between Enzymes in Glycolysis and Connected Pathways

    Author : Wilma Martinez Arias; Biokemi och Strukturbiologi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Channelling; Free-diffusion; Glycolytic pathway; Dehydrogenases; Enzyme kinetics; Biochemistry; Metabolite transfer mechanism.; Biokemi; Metabolism;

    Abstract : The metabolite produced by one enzyme in a metabolic pathway can be transferred to the next enzyme in the pathway by free diffusion via solution or by channelling in an enzyme-enzyme complex without prior release of the metabolite to solution. While metabolite channelling is known to occur in systems where stable multienzyme complexes form, conflicting views have been expressed as to its existence in pathways involving "soluble" enzymes. 2. 22. Exploring Electron Transfer Dynamics of Novel Dye Sensitized Photocathodes : Towards Solar Cells and Solar Fuels

    Author : Lei Zhang; Leif Hammarström; Yiying Wu; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Electron transfer; Laser spectroscopy; Femtosecond spectroscopy; Transient absorption; NiO; DSSCs; DSSFDs; Charge separation; Solar energy conversion; Nanosecond photolysis; Photophysics; Kemi med inriktning mot kemisk fysik; Chemistry with specialization in Chemical Physics;

    Abstract : The design of dyes for NiO-based dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs) has drawn attention owing to their potential applications in photocatalysis and because they are indispensable for the development of tandem dye-sensitized solar cells. The understanding of the electron transfer mechanisms and dynamics is beneficial to guide further dye design and further improve the performance of photocathode in solar cells and solar fuel devices. 3. 23. Rate Limiting Factors For Protein Folding

    Author : Maria Berggård Silow; Biokemi och Strukturbiologi; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; kinetic competition; transient aggregation; diffusion control; reconfiguration time; collapse; osmolytes; broad barriers; Hammond behaviour; two-state; U1A; CI2; Proteins; enzymology; Proteiner; enzymologi;

    Abstract : Abstract. This thesis describes factors that are rate limiting for the folding of two small proteins, U1A and CI2 which fold without accumulating intermediates. The [GdnHCl] dependencies of the unfolding- and refolding kinetics of U1A display downward curvatures. READ MORE

  4. 24. In situ Studies of Platinum Catalyst Sintering

    Author : Pooya Tabib Zadeh Adibi; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; nanoparticle sintering; indirect nanoplasmonic sensing; operando spectroscopy; transmission electron microscopy; platinum; catalyst deactivation; sintering kinetics;

    Abstract : The damaging effect of pollutants from combustion engine exhaust on human health and environment is well recognized. Since the 70s, the three-way catalytic converter (TWC) has substantially improved the urban air quality by simultaneous conversion of CO, NOx and unburned hydrocarbons to O2, N2 and H2O. READ MORE

  5. 25. Electrochemical characterisation of porous cathodes in the polymer electrolyte fuel cell

    Author : Frédéric Jaouen; KTH; []
    Keywords : polymer electrolyte fuel cell; cathode; mass transport; porous electrode; modelling; agglomerate model; electrochemical impedance spectroscopy; current interrupt; transient techniques; non-noble catalysts;

    Abstract : Polymer electrolyte fuel cells (PEFC) convert chemicalenergy into electrical energy with higher efficiency thaninternal combustion engines. They are particularly suited fortransportation applications or portable devices owing to theirhigh power density and low operating temperature. READ MORE
