  1. 1. Phosphorylation in State Transition : Less cause more effect

    Author : Jakob Damkjaer; Jansson Stefan; Eva-Mari Aro; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Photosynthesis; Photoacclimation; State Transtion; LHCII Phosphorylation; Lhcb3; Lhcb6; Plant physiology; Växtfysiologi; molekylärbiologi; Molecular Biology;

    Abstract : Study of the Arabidopsis thaliana knockout mutant lacking Lhcb3 (koLhcb3) have revealed a close similarity to the wild type plants. Growth rate, NPQ, qP, Φ(PSII), circular dichroism spectra, pigment composition and content of LCHII trimers have been found to be unaffected by this mutation. READ MORE

  2. 2. Empowering The State : Support for State Intervention in The Baltic States and Poland

    Author : Wojciech Szrubka; Elfar Loftsson; Marie-Louise Bergmann-Winberg; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Legitimacy; democratic transition; institutions; political capacity; state trust; Legitimitet; demokratisering; institutioner; politisk kapacitet; förtroende för staten; Political science; Statsvetenskap;

    Abstract : The central question for this study is the popular perception of the state in four Eastern European countries. The democratic transition in this part of Europe has often been marked by deep mistrust towards politicians and sometimes towards the new political system as such. READ MORE

  3. 3. Edge states and transition to turbulence in boundary layers

    Author : Taras Khapko; Dan Henningson; Philipp Schlatter; Yohann Duguet; Rich Kerswell; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; boundary layer; transition to turbulence; direct numerical simulation; edge state; free-stream turbulence; bypass transition; probabilistic cellular automaton; turbulence at the onset; laminar–turbulent coexistence; laminarisation; Engineering Mechanics; Teknisk mekanik;

    Abstract : The focus of this thesis is the numerical study of subcritical transition to turbulence in boundary-layer flows. For the most part, boundary layers with uniform suction are considered. Constant homogeneous suction counteracts the spatial growth of the boundary layer, rendering the flow parallel. READ MORE

  4. 4. On stability, transition and turbulence in three-dimensional boundary-layer flows

    Author : Seyed Mohammd Hosseini; Ardeshir Hanifi; Spencer Sherwin; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Receptivity; stability; optimal growth; three-dimensional bound- ary layers; crossflow instability; roughness control; freestream turbulence; sec- ondary instability; transition; turbulence;

    Abstract : A lot has changed since that day on December 17, 1903 when the Wright brothers made the first powered manned flight. Even though the concepts behind flying are unaltered, appearance of stat-of-the-art modern aircrafts has undergone a massive evolution. READ MORE

  5. 5. Ground and Excited State Aromaticity : Design Tools for π-Conjugated Functional Molecules and Materials

    Author : Christian Dahlstrand; Henrik Ottosson; Miguel Solà; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; fulvene; fulvalene; polyfulvene; aromaticity; triplet state; excited state; Clar structure; polybenzenoid hydrocarbons PBH ; conjugated polymers; computational chemistry; optical spectroscopy; Kemi med inriktning mot organisk kemi; Chemistry with specialization in Organic Chemistry;

    Abstract : The main focus of this thesis is on the aromaticity of the ground state and electronically excited states of π-conjugated molecules and polymers, as well as how aromaticity is connected to their properties.The electronic structures of polybenzenoid hydrocarbons (PBHs) were explored through density functional theory (DFT) calculations and the π-component of the electron localization function (ELFπ).
