  1. 21. Regulation of gene expression by translation initiation efficiency in E. coli

    Author : Magnus Stenström; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : .... READ MORE

  2. 22. Initiation of Mammalian Mitochondrial DNA Replication

    Author : Elisabeth Jemt; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; mitochondria; mtDNA; DNA replication;

    Abstract : Mitochondria produce most of the adenosine triphosphate required in a eukaryotic cell and they contain their own genome. The mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) is a double stranded circular molecule that codes for proteins required for cellular respiration and RNA molecules involved in translation of these proteins. READ MORE

  3. 23. Studies on the functional interaction of translation initiation factor IF1 with ribosomal RNA

    Author : Jaroslav Belotserkovsky; Leif Isaksson; Diarmaid Hughes; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Escherichia coli; ribosome; rRNA mutation; molekylärgenetik; Molecular Genetics;

    Abstract : Translation initiation factor IF1 is a small, essential and ubiquitous protein factor encoded by a single infA gene in bacteria. Although several important functions have been attributed to IF1, the precise reason for its indispensability is yet to be defined. READ MORE

  4. 24. Determinants of peptidyl-tRNA drop-off from E. coli Ribosomes : Effects of antibiotics, mutations and translation factors

    Author : Reza Karimi; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Molecular biology; Molekylärbiologi; Molecular biology; Molekylärbiologi; molekylärbiologi; Molecular Biology;

    Abstract : During protein synthesis, some peptidyl-tRNA molecules dissociate from the ribosomes and become hydrolysed by peptidyl-tRNA hydrolase (Pth). Two different in vitro systems, poly(U) and natural mRNA programmed ribosomes, have been used in order to determine dissociation (drop-off) rates of deacylated- and peptidyl-tRNAs from different sites on ribosomes. 5. 25. Initiation of bacteriophage P2 rolling circle replication

    Author : Richard Odegrip; Barbara Funnel; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Virus; DNA; Genetics; genetik;

    Abstract : Viruses are very simple entities. In its most simple form, the virus consists of a protein shell containing genetic material. To propagate the virus needs a host to parasitize, in which it can replicate its genetic material and assembly new virus particles. Viruses that parasitize bacteria are termed bacteriophages.
