  1. 1. Forest-Fuel Systems : Comparative Analyses in a Life Cycle Perspective

    Author : Lisa Näslund Eriksson; Leif Gustavsson; Antti Asikainen; Mittuniversitetet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; forest fuels; recovery systems; transportation; cost; primary energy use; CO2 emission; forest-fuel potential; life cycle perspective; Environmental engineering; Miljöteknik;

    Abstract : Forest fuels can be recovered, stored and handled in several ways and these different ways have different implications for CO2 emissions. In this thesis, comparative analyses were made on different forest-fuel systems. The analyses focused on the recovery and transport systems. READ MORE

  2. 2. Energy transition in transportation : Applying TIMES-based energy system optimisation models to sub-national levels

    Author : Jonas Forsberg; Anna Krook-Riekkola; Andrea Toffolo; Åsa Lindman; Krister Sandberg; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Energy system analysis; ESOM; Transportation; Climate change; Air quality; Energy Engineering; Energiteknik;

    Abstract : Transportation is embedded in the fabric of society and a key enabler of socio-economic development, but it is also a major source of carbon dioxide (CO2) and local air pollution (AP). Cities collectively account for around three quarters of total energy-related CO2 emissions, and the negative health impacts from local APs are most felt in dense urban environments. READ MORE

  3. 3. Towards sustainable urban transportation : Test, demonstration and development of fuel cell and hybrid-electric buses

    Abstract : Several aspects make today’s transport system non-sustainable: • Production, transport and combustion of fossil fuels lead to global and local environmental problems. • Oil dependency in the transport sector may lead to economical and political instability. READ MORE

  4. 4. On direct hydrogen fuel cell vehicles : modelling and demonstration

    Author : Kristina Haraldsson; Per Alvfors; Dougal J. Nelson; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Chemical engineering; direct hydrogen; Proton Exchange Membrane; PEM; fuel cell; fuel cell vehicle; fuel cell hybrid vehicles; on-board hydrogen storage; Kemiteknik; Chemical engineering; Kemiteknik;

    Abstract : In this thesis, direct hydrogen Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) fuel cell systems in vehicles are investigated through modelling, field tests and public acceptance surveys. A computer model of a 50 kW PEM fuel cell system was developed. The fuel cell system efficiency is approximately 50% between 10 and 45% of the rated power. READ MORE

  5. 5. ELM: Environmental Assessment of Fuel Supply Systems for Vehicle Fleets

    Author : Magnus Blinge; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; exergy; biomass; alternative motor fuel; wnvironment; transportation; renewable; energy; Life Cycle Assessment; logistics; emission;

    Abstract : This thesis is based on the idea of applying a logistics approach to fuel supply systems. The complete supply chain from energy raw material to end use in the vehicle is analysed while keeping track of energy conversion efficiency, exergy consumption and emissions to air. READ MORE
