1. Structure/function relationships of inorganic phosphate transporters
Abstract : Of the many nutrients that make the metabolic clock tick, inorganic phosphate fulfills an essential role in all yeast (and other organisms), being necessary for both structural and metabolic purposes. In order to transport phosphate into the cell interior, Saccharomyces cerevisiae makes use of two systems, comprising high- or low-affinity transporters, which are responsible for the cellular accumulation of inorganic phosphate. 2. Characterization of Amino Acid Transporters : Transporters expressed in the central nervous system belonging to the Solute Carrier family SLC38
Abstract : In cells and organelles transporters are responsible for translocation of amino acids, sugars and nucleotides among others. In the central nervous system (CNS), amino acid transporters can function as neurotransmitter transporters and nutrient sensors. READ MORE

3. Monoamine transporters in female human reproduction
Abstract : The present study explored the gene and protein expression of the monoamine transporters in human endometrium throughout the menstrual cycle, in early decidua and in placentas from normal as well as preeclamptic pregnancies using in-situ hybridization, real time-PCR, immunohistochemistry and primary tissue cultures. Four distinguishable patterns were observed in the endometrium over the menstrual cycle: (1) epithelial expression of norepinephrine transporter (NET) mRNA, (2) Stromal co- expression of vesicular monoamine transporter 2 (VMAT2) and plasma membrane monoamine transporter (PMAT) mRNAs with maximal intensity in the proliferative phase; (3) increasing epithelial expression of VMAT2 mRNA with a maximum in the late secretory phase; (4) stromal expression of extra-neuronal monoamine transporter (EMT) mRNA with a peak in the early secretory phase. 4. β-adrenergic regulation of glucose transporters
Abstract : The transport of glucose across the plasma membrane is a fundamental mechanism to provide cells with its basic requirements for energy yielding processes. It is also vital for clearing glucose from blood into tissues, a process normally stimulated by the hormone insulin in mammals. READ MORE

5. In vivo Pharmacokinetics of Two New Thrombin Inhibitor Prodrugs : Emphasis on Intestinal and Hepatobiliary Disposition and the Influence of Interacting Drugs
Abstract : Biliary excretion is an important elimination route for many drugs and metabolites. For such compounds, it is important to know the extent of excretion and drug exposure in the bile, e.g., for the risk assessment of drug interactions, liver toxicity and the effects of genetic variants.
