  1. 1. Residual Trapping in Geological Storage of CO2 : Determination from Field Experiments and Data Analysis Using Numerical Modeling

    Author : Saba Joodaki; Auli Niemi; Zhibing Yang; Jonathan Ennis-King; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Residual trapping; CO2 geological storage; Dissolution trapping; Field experiment; numerical modeling; Geovetenskap med inriktning mot miljöanalys; Earth Science with specialization in Environmental Analysis;

    Abstract : Geological storage of CO2 in deep saline aquifers is one of the methods to mitigate the release of this greenhouse gas into the atmosphere. The efficiency of this solution can be improved by better understanding of the relevant trapping processes, as well as by improving available injection techniques and developing tools for more accurate site characterization. 2. 2. Trapping Tyrosine Z : Exploring the Relay between Photochemistry and Water Oxidation in Photosystem II

    Author : Johannes Sjöholm; Stenbjörn Styring; Fikret Mamedov; A. William Rutherford; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Photosystem II; Tyrosine Z; EPR; proton-coupled electron transfer; hydrogen bond; pH;

    Abstract : Photosystem II is unique! It remains the only enzyme that can oxidize water using light as energy input. Water oxidation in photosystem II is catalyzed by the CaMn4 cluster. The electrons extracted from the CaMn4 cluster are transferred to P680+ via the tyrosine residue D1-Tyr161 (YZ). READ MORE

  3. 3. Acoustic Trapping in Biomedical Research

    Author : Björn Hammarström; Avdelningen för Biomedicinsk teknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Microfluidics; Ultrasound; Acoustic Trapping; Lab-on-a-Chip; Mass Spectrometry;

    Abstract : Herein a method that uses acoustically resonating glass capillaries and enables non-contact capture of micron-sized bioparticles, i.e. acoustic trapping, is described. A miniaturized ultrasonic transducer is used to locally actuate a cross-sectional resonance in the capillary. READ MORE

  4. 4. Cell and Particle Trapping in Microfluidic Systems Using Ultrasonic Standing Waves

    Author : Mikael Evander; Avdelningen för Biomedicinsk teknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; acoustic particle manipulation; standing waves; trapping; ultrasound; cell handling; particle handling; Microsystem technology; lab on a chip; microfluidics;

    Abstract : Analysis methods are currently being miniaturized in order to save time and money while achieving higher sensitivities. The ultimate goal is to create a lab-on-a-chip where all analysis steps and instruments can be automated and integrated into a single chip. READ MORE

  5. 5. New Tools for Trapping and Separation in Gas Chromatography and Dielectrophoresis : Improved Performance by Aid of Computer Simulation

    Author : Fredrik Aldaeus; Anders Colmsjö; Marja-Liisa Riekkola; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; gas chromatography; dielectrophoresis; computer simulation; finite element method; trapping; separation; lab-on-a-chip; Analytical chemistry; Analytisk kemi; Analytical Chemistry; analytisk kemi;

    Abstract : Computer simulations can be useful aids for both developing new analytical methods and enhancing the performance of existing techniques. This thesis is based on studies in which computer simulations were key elements in the development of several new tools for use in gas chromatography and dielectrophoresis. READ MORE
