1. Robust machine learning methods
Abstract : We are surrounded by data in our daily lives. The rent of our houses, the amount of electricity units consumed, the prices of different products at a supermarket, the daily temperature, our medicine prescriptions, our internet search history are all different forms of data. Data can be used in a wide range of applications. READ MORE

2. Prediction-driven decision rules, RCT design and survival analysis
Abstract : Predictions are becoming more and more a part of our lives, and they are becoming increasingly useful in medical science as the science evolves. Increased understanding of disease and its treatments allows us to use predictions based on predictive biomarker signatures to optimize treatment outcomes for increasingly granular subject groups. 3. Quadrature rules for boundary integral methods applied to Stokes flow
Abstract : Fluid phenomena dominated by viscous effects can, in many cases, be modeled by the Stokes equations. The boundary integral form of the Stokes equations reduces the number of degrees of freedom in a numerical discretization by reformulating the threedimensional problem to two-dimensional integral equations to be discretized over the boundaries of the domain. 4. The Treatment of Polymorphism and Modules in a Partial Evaluator
Abstract : In this thesis we study aspects of specialisation by partial evaluation and compiler generation. After significant research during the last two decades, there are now powerful specialisers for several programming languages, such as LISP, Scheme, ML, and C. But some features of programming languages are still not handled by specialisers. READ MORE

5. Essays on Event History Analysis and the Effects of Social Programs on Individuals and Firms
Abstract : Essay I: This paper studies threat effects of unemployment insurance (UI) benefit sanctions on job exit rates. Using a difference-in-differences design, I exploit two reforms of the Swedish UI system that made monitoring and sanctions considerably stricter at different points in time for different jobseeker groups.
