    Author : Per Ståhl; Institutionen för elektro- och informationsteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; computer technology; Systems engineering; Teknik; Technological sciences; encoder inverse; systematic feedback encoder; state complexity; trellis; tailbiting termination method; tailbiting code; channel coding; convolutional code; Data- och systemvetenskap; Informatics; systems theory; Informatik; systemteori;

    Abstract : Tailbiting is a method to terminate convolutional codes into block codes. We call these block codes tailbiting codes. This thesis focuses on the encoding of tailbiting codes. The tailbiting method is carefully investigated. READ MORE

  3. 3. Joint Source-Channel Coding using Trellis Coded CPM

    Author : Zihuai Lin; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; iterative decoding; serially concatenated CPM; punctured ring convolutional codes.; trellis coded quantization; turbo codes; turbo trellis coded modulation; soft decoding; ring convolutional coded CPM; continuous phase modulation; Joint source channel coding;

    Abstract : The thesis investigates Joint Source and Channel Coding(JSCC) using combined Trellis Coded Quantization (TCQ) and coded modulation. First we investigate a JSCC scheme using combined TCQ/Trellis Coded CPM (TCQ/TCCPM). Based on the BCJR algorithm for trellis coded CPM, we derive an optimal soft decoding algorithm for the considered systems. READ MORE

  4. 4. Trellis Decoding: From Algorithm to Flexible Architectures

    Author : Matthias Kamuf; Institutionen för elektro- och informationsteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Electronics; Signalbehandling; Signal processing; VLSI; Viterbi algorithm; trellis decoding; TCM; survivor path; flexibility; convolutional codes; ACS; ASIC; Elektronik; Telecommunication engineering; Telekommunikationsteknik;

    Abstract : Trellis decoding is a popular method to recover encoded information corrupted during transmission over a noisy channel. Prominent members of this class of decoding algorithms are the Viterbi algorithm, which provides maximum likelihood estimates, and the BCJR algorithm, which is a maximum a posteriori estimator commonly used in iterative decoding. Abstract : In recent years the number of connected devices and the demand for high data-rates have been significantly increased. This enormous growth is more pronounced by the introduction of the Internet of things (IoT) in which several devices are interconnected to exchange data for various applications like smart homes and smart cities.
