  1. 1. Present and future precipitation variations in the source region of the Yangtze River, China

    Author : Yiheng Du; Avdelningen för Teknisk vattenresurslära; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Precipitation; water balance; ENSO; PDO; Yangtze River; Tibet Plateau; future projections;

    Abstract : The source region of the Yangtze River (SRYR), the origin of the longest river in China, is an area with high-mountains and river ecotones that face considerable challenges under climate change. Precipitation is fundamental for sustainable ecosystems in this area and for the downstream water supplies. READ MORE

  2. 2. Impacts of climate change on surface hydrology in the source region of the Yellow River

    Author : Feifei Yuan; Avdelningen för Teknisk vattenresurslära; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Source region of the Yellow River; climate change; summer precipitation; ENSO; teleconnection pattern; sea surface temperature; Xinanjiang model; Rainfall-Runoff process;

    Abstract : The source region of the Yellow River contributes about 35% of the total water yield in the Yellow River basin playing an important role for meeting the downstream water resources requirements. The declining water availability caused by climate change in the source region of the Yellow River is expected to have severe repercussions for the 110 million basin inhabitants in terms of water resources affecting agricultural productivity, municipal, and industrial water supply. 3. 3. Climate Change Effects on Rainfall and Management of Urban Flooding

    Author : Arun Rana; Avdelningen för Teknisk vattenresurslära; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Climate Change; Extreme Events; Intensive Rainfall; Urban Drainage; Intensity-Duration-Frequency; Statistical analysis; Flood Management;

    Abstract : Flooding in urban basins is intensifying due to increasing urbanization and climate change and variability. This thesis presents how the effects of climate change and high-intensive rainfall on the urban drainage system and management of flooding in urban areas of were studied in Mumbai, India and Southern Sweden, including Skåne and Gothenburg. 4. 4. Dynamics of nutrient mass transport : A river basin evaluation

    Author : Gunnar Karlsson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Motala ström; INTERDISCIPLINARY RESEARCH AREAS; TVÄRVETENSKAPLIGA FORSKNINGSOMRÅDEN;

    Abstract : Human settlements and activities can dramatically change and accelerate the rate of eutrophication in a river basin. An undesirable increase in the input of nutrients, e.g. phosphorus and nitrogen, to a surface water causes adverse water quality conditions. READ MORE

  5. 5. Ecohydrological water flow analysis of a Swedish landscape in a 100 year perspective

    Author : Lotta Andersson; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; INTERDISCIPLINARY RESEARCH AREAS; TVÄRVETENSKAPLIGA FORSKNINGSOMRÅDEN;

    Abstract : The study basically involves analysis in a 100 year perspective of the hydrological response on precipitation from different landscape elements in south-central Sweden, characterized by the interaction of topography, soil type, land management and canopy cover.For this purpose, a dynamic water partitioning model, based on the soil moisture balance, was developed together with a Geographical Information System (GIS)-supported method for the detection of the spatial distribution of soil wetness as an indicator of the probability to act as discharge or recharge areas respectively.
