    Abstract : The tricyclic antidepressant drugs (TCA) have, over the years, been reported to be able to cause adult respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS)/acute lung injury in connection with overdose, and are currently among the most common cause of self-poisoning. Approximately 10% of all TCA overdose patients develop ARDS, and the treatment of these patients, irrespective of the event causing ARDS, is mainly supportive. READ MORE

    Abstract : A large minority of children with enuresis do not respond to treatment with either desmopressin or the enuresis alarm. Anticholinergics have not proven as successful as expected.     Abstract : Serotonin (5-HT) and the serotonergic system, which includes the serotonin transporter (SERT) and the two G protein-coupled 5-HT1A and 5-HT1B receptors, are implicated in the pathophysiology and treatment of several neuropsychiatric disorders including major depressive disorder (MDD) and anxiety. Two classes of antidepressants—selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), which block SERT, and tricyclic antidepressants (TCAs), which block several monoamine transporters—alter 5-HT levels and modulate the serotonergic system.
