  1. 1. Novel Pincer Complex-Catalyzed Transformations : Including Asymmetric Catalysis

    Author : Juhanes Aydin; Kálmán J. Szabó; Oleg V. Ozerov; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; pincer; palladium; catalysis; chiral; asymmetric; palladium IV; allylation; aldol; aminoacid; C-H functionalization; cross-coupling; homoallylic; heck reaction; tridentate ligand; Chemistry; Kemi; Organic Chemistry; organisk kemi;

    Abstract : This thesis is focused on the development of new pincer complex-catalyzed transformations. Optimization of the catalytic properties (fine-tuning) was directed to increase the catalytic activity as well as the chemo-, stereo- and enantioselectivity of the complexes. READ MORE

  2. 2. Unsymmetric PCN Pincer Palladium and Nickel Complexes : Synthesis, Characterization and Reactivity

    Author : Abdelrazek Mousa; Centrum för analys och syntes; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Unsymmetric PCN; Palladium; Nickel; Cyclometallation; Carboxylation; Cross-coupling;

    Abstract : New palladium and nickel complexes based on unsymmetric PCN pincer ligands have been synthesized and fully characterized using different techniques. The substituents on the nitrogen side arm of the ligand have great influence on the cyclometallation and the reactivity of the new complexes particularly in case of nickel. READ MORE

  3. 3. Development and Mechanistic Studies of Molecularly Defined Water Oxidation Catalysts : Catalysts for a Green and Sustainable Future

    Author : Markus Kärkäs; Björn Åkermark; Jean-François Nierengarten; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; artificial photosynthesis; water oxidation; photochemistry; electrochemistry; organisk kemi; Organic Chemistry;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with the development of complexes that are active catalysts for H2O oxidation. Promoting proton-coupled electron transfer has been a highly important feature in the development of these catalysts. READ MORE

  4. 4. Nickel and iridium pincer complexes with saturated frameworks - synthesis and reactivity

    Author : Klara Jonasson; Centrum för analys och syntes; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; PCP complexes; aliphatic pincer ligands; coordination; cyclometallation; iridium; nickel; organometallic synthesis; CO2 activation; catalysis;

    Abstract : As the tridentate chelate complexes referred to as pincer complexes have expanded their scope as homogeneous catalysts, there is an increased interest in electronic and steric fine-tuning of such complexes. One accessible variable in this aspect is the hybridisation of any coordinated carbon atoms. READ MORE

  5. 5. Metallacyclic Phosphine Complexes and Intramolecular Csp3-H Bond Activation -Synthesis, Characterisation and Catalytic Application

    Author : Sven Sjövall; Kemiska institutionen; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; catalysis; Heck; diphosphite; diphosphine; phosphine; cyclometallation; C-C activation; C-O activation; C-H activation; palladium; rhodium; iridium; Inorganic chemistry; Oorganisk kemi;

    Abstract : The work presented in this thesis deals with metallacyclic late transition metal complexes, obtained by intramolecular Csp3-H activation, and the application of such compounds in catalysis. The new hemilabile P,O phosphines N-methyl-N-propionyl-2-(diphenylphosphino)benzylamine (DPPAM), o-(diphenylphosphino)benzoic acid ethyl ester (DPPES), o-(diphenylphosphino)benzoic acid methyl ether (DPPET) and ±-1-(2- diphenylphosphino)phenylethyl propionate (±-DPPMES) and the symmetrical diphosphorus donor ligands cis-1,3-bis[(diphenylphosphino)methyl]-cyclohexane (DPCY), cis-1,3-bis[(di-tertbutylphosphino)methyl]cyclohexane (DTBCY) and cis-1,3-bis[(di-isopropylphosphino)methyl]cyclohexane (DIPCY) have been synthesised, allowing the preparation of a range of new metallacyclic rhodium(III), iridium(III) and palladium(II) complexes.
