16. Assembly and Secretion of Atherogenic Lipoproteins
Abstract : The classical dyslipidemia seen in patients with type 2 diabetes is characterized by elevated serum triglycerides (TG), low levels of high-density lipoprotein cholesterol and the appearance of small, dense low-density lipoproteins (LDL). It is now recognized that the different components of diabetic dyslipidemia are not isolated abnormalities but are closely linked to each other metabolically, and are initiated by the hepatic overproduction of large triglyceride-rich very low-density lipoproteins (VLDL1). 17. The assembly and secretion of ApoB containing lipoproteins
Abstract : Increased levels of cholesterol and triglycerides in the blood are important risk factors for the development of premature atherosclerosis and its complications such as coronary-heart diseases, stroke and peripheral vascular diseases. These diseases are the major causes of death in Europe, USA and part of Asia. READ MORE

19. Postprandial lipaemia and its relation to premature atherosclerosis in middle-aged men
Abstract : The present research programme was set up to investigate whether pertubations of the metabolism of postprandial triglyceride-rich lipoproteins (TRLs) are related to premature atherosclerosis and to determine if treatment with a 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaryl-coenzyme A reductase inhibitor (atorvastatin) improves deranged alimentary lipaemia in postinfarction patients with combined hyperlipidaemia. The relation between plasma insulin and alimentary lipaemia was investigated as well. READ MORE

20. Studies on the assembly and secretion of apolipoprotein B containing lipoproteins
Abstract : Lipoproteins are water-soluble particles of lipids and proteins, which deliver water-insoluble lipids from intestine or liver to target tissues where the lipids are used as fuel or storage. Lipoproteins consist of a core of hydrophobic lipids surrounded by an amphipatic monolayer of polar lipids and specific proteins, apolipoproteins. READ MORE
