1. Clinical Bedside Studies of Cerebral Blood Flow in Severe Subarachnoid Hemorrhage Using Xenon CT
Abstract : Aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) is frequently complicated by delayed cerebral ischemia (DCI), contributing to poor outcome. Particularly for patients in poor neurological state, prediction of the acute clinical course is difficult, as is the early detection of DCI. READ MORE

2. The proteasome as a target for cancer therapy
Abstract : The main objective of this PhD thesis was to evaluate the significance of proteasome genes as prognostic markers for different cancer types and identify specific cancer forms that respond to proteasome inhibition. The proteasome (PSM) plays an important role in maintaining cellular proteostasis and degrades the majority of proteins that require breakdown in the cell. READ MORE

3. Experimental combination therapy of brain cancer cell models
Abstract : Epigenetic alterations and aberrant expression of genes controlling epigenetic mechanisms have been identified in several cancers, including medulloblastoma and glioma, the most common primary brain tumors in children and adults, respectively. We have been investigating if combination therapy using histone deacetylase inhibitors (HDACi) and receptor tyrosine kinase inhibitors (RTKi) will enhance glioblastoma and medulloblastoma cell killing. 4. Atrial Fibrillation in the setting of Coronary Artery Disease : Risks and outcomes with different treatment options
Abstract : Coronary artery disease (CAD) is the leading cause of mortality worldwide and atrial fibrillation (AF) is a prevalent arrhythmia associated with increased risk of mortality and morbidity. Despite improved outcome in both diseases, there is a need to further describe the prevalence, outcome and management of CAD in patients with concomitant AF. READ MORE

5. Genetic re-targeting of adenoviral vectors for gene therapy applications
Abstract : The adenovirus (Ad) is a frequent cause of upper respiratory tract infections, enteritis and conjunctivitis. Since its first isolation in 1953, the study of Ad has contributed greatly to the understanding of intracellular events and has also served as a model system for many viruses. READ MORE
