  1. 1. Assessment of patients with symptoms suggestive of acute coronary syndrome : the use of high sensitive cardiac troponin T and a risk score

    University dissertation from Stockholm : Karolinska Institutet, Dept of Medicine, Huddinge

    Author : Dina Melki; Karolinska Institutet.; Karolinska Institutet.; [2013]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; troponin;

    Abstract : The aim of this thesis was to evaluate patients with symptoms suggestive of acute coronary syndrome with regard to early diagnosis and prognosis by the use of high sensitive cardiac troponin T and a risk score: a low-risk group in which admission and further investigations may not be necessary. In paper I, the early diagnostic value of high sensitive cardiac troponin T (hs-cTnT) was compared with conventional cardiac troponin assays in 233 patients with symptoms suggestive of acute coronary syndrome (ACS). 2. 2. New Risk Markers in Atrial Fibrillation

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Ziad Hijazi; Uppsala universitet.; Uppsala universitet.; [2013]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; atrial fibrillation; stroke risk; cardiac biomarkers; troponin; natriuretic peptides; NT-proBNP; risk stratification; Cardiology; Kardiologi;

    Abstract : Atrial fibrillation (AF) confers an independent increased risk of stroke and death. The stroke risk is very heterogeneous and current risk stratification models based on clinical variables, such as the CHADS2 and CHA2DS2VASc score, only offer a modest discriminating value. READ MORE

  3. 3. Coagulation, Inflammation and Myocardial Dysfunction in Unstable Coronary Artery Disease and the Influence of Glycoprotein IIb/IIIa Inhibition and Low Molecular Weight Heparin

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Stefan James; Uppsala universitet.; [2003]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Medicine; Acute coronary syndrome; Angina; Mortality; Myocardial infarction; Glycoprotein IIb IIIa inhibition; Troponin; C-reactive protein; Coagulation; Natriuretic peptide; Medicin; MEDICINE Dermatology and venerology; clinical genetics; internal medicine; MEDICIN Dermatologi och venerologi; klinisk genetik; invärtesmedicin; kardiologi; Cardiology;

    Abstract : Hjärt-kärl sjukdom är den vanligaste dödsorsaken i västvärlden. Samtidigt som antalet patienter med hjärtinfarkt har minskat, har antalet patienter med instabil kranskärlsjukdom d.v.s. READ MORE

  4. 4. Cardiac Troponins in Patients with Suspected or Confirmed Acute Coronary Syndrome New Applications for Biomarkers in Coronary Artery Disease

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Kai Eggers; Uppsala universitet.; [2007]
    Keywords : Internal medicine; Ischemic heart disease; Acute myocardial infarction; Troponin; Natriuretic peptide; CRP; Cystatin C; Artificial neural network; Point of care measurements; Risk prediction; Invärtesmedicin;

    Abstract : The cardiac troponins are the biochemical markers of choice for the diagnosis of acute myocardial infarction (AMI) and risk prediction in patients with acute coronary syndrome (ACS). In this thesis, the role of early serial cardiac troponin I (cTnI) testing was assessed in fairly unselected patient populations admitted because of chest pain and participating in the FAST II-study (n=197) and the FASTER I-study (n=380). 5. 5. Perioperative Myocardial Damage and Morbidity after Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Johnny Steuer; Uppsala universitet.; [2004]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Surgery; coronary surgery; creatine kinase; magnetic resonance imaging; morbidity; mortality; perioperative myocardial infarction; troponin; women; Kirurgi; MEDICINE Surgery; MEDICIN Kirurgi;

    Abstract : The aims of this project were to investigate the impact of perioperative myocardial damage on morbidity and mortality after coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG), to determine whether biochemical marker levels after CABG correlate to perioperative myocardial infarct size, and to assess the long-term morbidity after CABG, in particular to determine whether women do worse.The studies were conducted in patients who had undergone isolated, primary CABG.
