1. Thermodynamic aspects and heat transfer characteristics of HiTAC furnaces with regenerators
Abstract : Oxygen-diluted Combustion (OdC) technology has evolved from the concept of Excess Enthalpy Combustion and is characterized by reactants of low oxygen concentration and high temperature. Recent advances in this technology have demonstrated significant energy savings, high and uniform thermal field, low pollution, and the possibility for downsizing the equipment for a range of furnace applications. 2. Bio-coal as an alternative reducing agent in the blast furnace
Abstract : The steel industry is aiming to reduce CO2 emissions by different means; in the short-term, by replacing fossil coal with highly reactive carbonaceous material like bio-coal (pretreated biomass) and, in the longer term, by using hydrogen. The use of bio-coal as part of top charged briquettes also containing iron oxide has the potential to lower the thermal reserve zone temperature of the Blast furnace (BF) and, due to improved gas efficiency, thereby give a high replacement ratio to coke. 3. High temperature corrosion in a biomass-fired power boiler : Reducing furnace wall corrosion in a waste wood-fired power plant with advanced steam data
Abstract : The use of waste (or recycled) wood as a fuel in heat and power stations is becoming more widespread in Sweden (and Europe), because it is CO2 neutral with a lower cost than forest fuel. However, it is a heterogeneous fuel with a high amount of chlorine, alkali and heavy metals which causes more corrosion than fossil fuels or forest fuel. READ MORE

4. Heat Transfer in Circulating Fluidized Bed Boilers
Abstract : Heat transfer to single particles in the transport zone of circulating fluidized beds and heat transfer to membrane tube walls have been investigated. The heat transfer coefficient to spheres in the transport zone of a circulating fluidized bed boiler has been measured with dark and light calorimeters. READ MORE

5. Hydrogen Production by Integration of Fluidized Bed Heat Exchangers in Steam Reforming
Abstract : The possibility to integrate fluidized beds as heat sources for steam reforming in industrial hydrogen production plants is examined in this work. The proposed processes include traditional catalytic steam reforming of natural gas (SMR), shift reactors and purification steps; the main difference is the reformer furnace. READ MORE
