  1. 1. High Temperature Superconducting and Tunable Ferroelectric Microwave Devices

    Author : Erik F. Carlsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; varactors; tunable microwave circuits; conformal mapping; cryogenic probe station; ferroelectrics; high temperature superconductors; microwave circuits; narrow-band filters; phase-shifter;

    Abstract : This thesis addresses some applications of High Temperature Superconductors (HTS) and ferroelectric materials in tunable microwave devices and circuits. The work is divided into three main areas: i) modeling of multilayered structures including ferroelectric layers, ii) realization and characterization of tunable coplanar waveguides (CPW), capacitors and resonators based on ferroelectrics, and iii) an investigation of microstrip HTS K-band filters. Abstract : Most of today’s microwave circuits are designed for specific function and specialneed. There is a growing trend to have flexible and reconfigurable circuits. Circuitsthat can be digitally programmed to achieve various functions based on specific needs. READ MORE

  3. 3. Engineering and detecting microwave photons

    Author : Sankar Raman Sathyamoorthy; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; microwave photon detection; Quantum optics; open quantum systems.; tunable cavity; cross-Kerr effect; circuit QED;

    Abstract : Microwave quantum optics using superconducting circuits, also known as circuit QED, is a recent and promising field to study light-matter interactions at the fundamental level. In this field, artificial atoms made of superconducting elements interact with microwave photons routed through one dimensional transmission lines. READ MORE

  4. 4. SiC Varactors for Dynamic Load Modulation of Microwave Power Amplifiers

    Author : Christer Andersson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; nonlinear characterization; varactors; active load-pull; power; microwave; amplifier; dynamic load modulation; SiC; energy efficiency;

    Abstract : The rapid consumer adoption of mobile services is leading to an exponential growth in wireless data traffic. In order to accommodate more concurrent high data-rate users, the required complexity of transmitting radio base station (RBS) power amplifiers (PAs) is increasing. READ MORE

  5. 5. Quantum optics in superconducting circuits : Generating, engineering and detecting microwave photons

    Author : Sankar Raman Sathyamoorthy; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; single photon source; superconducting circuits; single photon detector; cross-Kerr effect; Quantum optics; circuit QED;

    Abstract : Quantum optics in superconducting circuits, known as circuit QED, studies the interaction of photons at microwave frequencies with artificial atoms made of Josephson junctions. Although quite young, remarkable progress has been made in this field over the past decade, especially given the interest in building a quantum computer using superconducting circuits. READ MORE
