1. Microfabrication of Tungsten, Molybdenum and Tungsten Carbide Rods by Laser-Assisted CVD
Abstract : Thin films of refractory metals and carbides have been studied extensively over many years because of their wide range of application. The two major techniques used are Chemical Vapour Deposition (CVD) and Physical Vapour Deposition (PVD). These can result in the deposition of two-dimensional blanket or patterned thin films. 2. Vapor phase deposition of WO and WC
Abstract : WO3 and WC are two compounds that are widely used for a number of different thin film applications. In this thesis, these compounds have been deposited using two different deposition methods: atomic layer epitaxy (ALE) and chemical vapor deposition (CVD). READ MORE

3. Laser-assisted CVD Fabrication and Characterization of Carbon and Tungsten Microhelices for Microthrusters
Abstract : Laser-induced chemical vapor deposition (LCVD) is a process enabling the deposition of solid material from a gas phase in the form of free-standing microstructures with high aspect ratios. The deposition rate, wire diameter, and material properties are sensitive to changes in temperature and gas pressure. READ MORE

4. Muspel and Surtr : CVD system and control program for WF6 chemistry
Abstract : CVD (Chemical Vapour Deposition) is an advanced technique for depositing a coating on a substrate. CVD implies that a solid phase is deposited on a normally heated substrate surface using a reactive, gaseous mixture. The reaction gas mixture must be carefully chosen to prevent homogeneous nucleation in the gas phase. READ MORE

5. Development of Encapsulated UN-UO₂ Accident Tolerant Fuel
Abstract : Accident tolerant fuels (ATFs) are designed to endure a severe accident in the reactor core longer than the standard UO2-Zr alloy systems used in light water reactors (LWRs). Composite fuels such as UN-UO2 are being considered as an ATF concept to address the lower oxidation resistance of the UN fuel from a safety perspective for use in LWRs, whilst improving the in-reactor behaviour of the UO2 fuel.
