6. Tumor progression in melanocytic lesions : biological and diagnostic implications
Abstract : Cutaneous malignant melanoma has an annual incidence of 5% in Sweden, with about 1500 cases diagnosed yearly. In routine histopathology there are diagnostic difficulties in the analysis of pigmented lesions. READ MORE

7. Uveal melanoma : cytogenetics, molecular biology and tumor immunology
Abstract : Uveal melanoma is the most common primary intraocular malignancy. The metastatic spread is hematogenous and exclusively to the liver. Although eye-sparing treatments are used more frequently the tumor-related mortality in uveal melanoma is still 30-50%. Only 2% of the patients have detectable metastases at the time of diagnosis. 8. Importance of insulin-like growth factor-1 receptor and EWS/FLI-1 fusion protein in growth and survival of two different types of neuroectodermal tumor cells
Abstract : Treatment with comparatively low doses of the 3-hydroxy-3-metylglutaryl coenzyme A (HMG-CoA) reductase inhibitor lovastatin caused growth arrest in both melanoma cells and Ewing's sarcoma (ES) cells. In melanoma cells growth inhibition was correlated with a drastic decrease in N-linked glycosylation of the insulin-like growth factor-1 receptor (IGF-1R), which in turn was followed by a decreased expression of IGF-1 binding sites at the cell surface. 9. Calreticulins- Calcium-Binding Proteins with Functional Diversity and Evolutionary Duality
Abstract : Calreticulin is a multifunctional protein mainly localized in the endoplasmic reticulum in eukaryotic organisms, except yeasts. The protein comprises three distinct regions: the N-terminal N domain, the C-terminal C domain, and the central P domain, reflecting the functional diversity of calreticulin. READ MORE

10. Characterisation of the novel endoplasmic reticulum chaperone ERDJ5
Abstract : Communication between cells depends to a large extent on interactions between secreted proteins and membrane receptors. Therefore their production and release must be strictly regulated. Proteins that are destined for the extracellular space assemble and fold in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER). READ MORE
