  1. 6. Three-Dimensional Metal-Semiconductor Heterostructures for Device Applications

    Author : Lars-Erik Wernersson; Institutionen för elektro- och informationsteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Schottky contacts; space-charge spectroscopy; ballistic transport; Coulomb repulsion; electron interference; resonant tunnelling; lateral confinement; heterojunction permeable base transistor; resonant tunnelling diodes; Fysicumarkivet A:1998:Wernersson; Fysik; Physics; resonant tun; epitaxial overgrowth;

    Abstract : Fabrication and characterisation of buried metal contacts in compound semiconductors are demonstrated. The contacts have been investigated due to their usage both as gates in transistors and as active or passive elements in novel devices. READ MORE

  3. 8. Scanning Tunnelling Microscopy Studies of Na Islands on Graphite, Impurity Interactions on Cu(111) and Low Temperature Structures of S/Cu(111)

    Author : Erik Wahlström; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; photoelectron spectroscopy; Scanning tunnelling microscopy STM ; Na HOPG; scanning tunnelling spectroscopy STS ; metal quantum wells; surface impurity interaction; S Cu 111 ;

    Abstract : A scanning tunnelling microscope (STM) can reveal the atomic order of a surface as well as details of its electronic structure. In the present work STM, in combination with core and valence photo-electron spectroscopy and low energy electron diffraction (LEED) was applied to three different systems: (i) simple metal quantum wells in the form of Na films and islands on highly oriented pyrolytic graphite (HOPG), (ii) low temperature S/Cu(111) structures discovered in the course of this work and (iii) impurities on Cu(111). 5. 10. Drill Monitoring for Rock Mass Assessment in Tunnelling

    Author : Jeroen van Eldert; Björn Nilsen; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Mining and Rock Engineering; Gruv- och berganläggningsteknik;

    Abstract : Site investigations for tunnel projects are often unable to determine rock mass conditions accurately for the entire tunnel, as these investigations obtain qualitative data for only limited parts of the tunnel. This is the case at the Stockholm Bypass project in Sweden. READ MORE
