  1. 1. Turbulent burning, flame acceleration, explosion triggering

    Author : V'yacheslav Akkerman; Vitaly Bychkov; Geoffrey Searby; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Turbulent combustion; flame acceleration; detonation explosion triggering; direct numerical simulations; Physics; Fysik;

    Abstract : The present thesis considers several important problems of combustion theory, which are closely related to each other: turbulent burning, flame interaction with walls in different geometries, flame acceleration and detonation triggering. The theory of turbulent burning is developed within the renormalization approach. READ MORE

  2. 2. Numerical study of flame dynamics

    Author : Arkady Petchenko; Vitaly Bychkov; Leonid Kagan; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; combustion; Direct Numerical Simulation DNS ; turbulence; flame-vortex interaction; flame acceleration; flame-acoustic interaction; Physics; Fysik;

    Abstract : Modern industrial society is based on combustion with ever increasing standards on the efficiency of burning. One of the main combustion characteristics is the burning rate, which is influenced by intrinsic flame instabilities, external turbulence and flame interaction with walls of combustor and sound waves. 3. 3. Modelling effects of flame development on stationary and oscillating premixed turbulent combustion

    Author : Pratap Sathiah; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; flame development; Keywords: Premixed turbulent flame; Flame Speed Closure model;

    Abstract : The vast majority of contemporary models of premixed turbulent flames applied to multi-dimensional RANS numerical simulations of combustion in gas turbine engines and aero-engine afterburners focus on fully-developed flames, characterized by fully-developed turbulent diffusivity, thickness, and burning velocity. However, abundant experimental data obtained from statistically stationary premixed flames clearly show that a typical turbulent flame develops as it is convected by mean flow from a stabilization zone. 4. 4. Numerical Modeling of Turbulent Combustion and Flame Spread

    Author : Zhenghua Yan; Institutioner vid LTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Technological sciences; Flame Spread; Pyrolysis; Heat Transfer; Radiation; CFD; Turbulent Combustion Modeling; Teknik;

    Abstract : Theoretical models have been developed to address several important aspects of numerical modeling of turbulent combustion and flame spread. The developed models include a pyrolysis model for charring and non-charring solid materials, a fast narrow band radiation property evaluation model (FASTNB) and a turbulence model for buoyant flow and flame. 5. 5. Large Eddy Simulation of Turbulent Swirling Flows and Turbulent Premixed Combustion

    Author : Ping Wang; Strömningsteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; fluid dynamics; Gases; flamelet model; flame wrinkle; large eddy simulation; vortex breakdown; turbulent premixed combustion; level set G-equation; swirling flow; plasmas; Gaser; fluiddynamik; plasma; Energy research; Energiforskning;

    Abstract : With the increasing concerns about our environment and human health, more and more stringent emission limits have been specified. These adopted and still coming emission limits require and promote more accurate, less experiential methods to design and develop the combustors. READ MORE
