16. Modelling of Laminar Mixing in Static Mixers
Abstract : The chemical process industry uses the mixing unit operation for several applications in which a defined degree of homogeneity is desired. The mixing process can be performed under laminar, transitional or turbulent flow conditions and there are several types of equipment available for this purpose; the static mixer being one of them. 17. Global Turbulent EquiPartition (TEP) in Tokamak Plasma
Abstract : We studied analytically and numerically the establishment of global turbulent equipartition (TEP) of magnetised electrons in a tokamak plasma. This allows us to investigate self-consistently the inhomogeneous distributions of the plasma density, the electron and the ion temperatures, the generation of radial electric field and the poloidal and the toroidal rotation in the turbulent tokamak plasma. 18. Experimental studies in jet flows and zero pressure-gradient turbulent boundary layers
Abstract : This thesis deals with the description and development of two classical turbulent shear flows, namely free jet and flat plate turbulent boundary layer flows. In both cases new experimental data has been obtained and in the latter case comparisons are also made with data obtained from data bases, both of experimental and numerical origin. READ MORE

19. Experimental analysis of thermal mixing at reactor conditions
Abstract : High-cycle thermal fatigue arising from turbulent mixing of non-isothermal flows is a key issue associated with the life management and extension of nuclear power plants. The induced thermal loads and damage are not fully understood yet. READ MORE

20. Some Aspects on Macroscopic Mixing in a Tundish
Abstract : Two aspects on macroscopic mixing in a continuous flow system – metallurgical tundish were studied. Specifically, 1) the first focus was on salt solution tracer mixing, which is important for tundish design from perspectives of tracer technology and Residence Time Distributions (RTD) as well as for the understanding of the macroscopic mixing in tundishes.
