1. Healing of endosseous implants with different surface characteristics in grafted and non-grafted bone : clinical and experimental studies
Abstract : Aims: This study uses radiological and clinical evaluations of the healing of endosseous titanium implants presented with different surface characteristics in the clinical situation (paper I-III) and experimentally to describe the early bone healing in maxillary sinus membrane elevation with and without the use of grafting material (paper IV).Material and methods: In paper I, 136 patients were treated with 394 dental implants – 199 were oxidized titanium implants (Nobel Biocare TiUnite) and 195 were turned titanium surface implants (Nobel Biocare Mark III). 2. Bioaccessibility of Stainless Steels : Importance of Bulk and Surface Features
Abstract : With increasing environmental awareness, the desire to protect human beings and the environment from adverse effects induced by dispersed metals has become an issue of great concern and interest. New policies, such as REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals) within the European Community, have been implemented to reduce hazards posed by the use of chemicals on producers and downstream users. 3. On the bone response to different implant textures. A 3D analysis of roughness, wavelength and surface pattern of experimental implants
Abstract : PurposeThe purpose of the present thesis was to investigate the bone response to different isotropic, anisotropic and organised surface patterns.Material and methodsImplant surfaces have been modified with different techniques (abrasive blasting, turning, milling, photolithography or laser ablation). 4. Effect of surface characteristics on cellular adherence and activity
Abstract : Ersättning av förlorade tänder med tandimplantat är numera en vanlig behandlingsmetod med generellt goda resultat. Antalet implantatsystem på den internationella marknaden har ökat kraftigt under senare år. READ MORE

5. On the influence of micro-and macroscopic surface modifications on bone integration of titanium implants
Abstract : Background: Osseointegrated titanium implants are routinely used in clinical denstistry as anchorage units for dental prostheses. Although the overall clinical results are good, there are clinical situations when an optimized implant healing is desirable, for instance in order to shorten healing periods and to allow immediate loading.
