  1. 1. Quasi-analytical Modelling and Optimisation Techniques for Transport Aircraft Design

    Author : Askin T. Isikveren; KTH; []
    Keywords : aircraft; conceptual; design; specifications; atmosphere; geometry; weight; aerodyanmics; propulsion; operational performance; stability and control; constrained multi-objective optimisation; computer aided design; regional; business; high-transonic; ;

    Abstract : The research work presented here focuses on the subject oftransport aircraft design at the pre-design or conceptuallevel. The primary topics addressed are: (1) generation of avast array of new quasi-analytical expressions to permit aconceptual treatment of commercial and business transportaircraft with adequate sensitivity for more advanced tradestudies; (2) review and adoption of a method to predictstability and control characteristics (using the Mitchellmethod); (3) a study of the relative merits between variousmethods in facilitating an expedient and robust constrainedmulti-objective optimisation result within the context oftraditional conceptual design problems (Genetic Algorithms andNelder-Mead Simplex search); (4) creation of a software packageas a new and unique conceptual tool that permits the generationof design proposals in an accurate yet expeditious manner; and,(5) practical demonstration of the new conceptual designsoftware package by undertaking some actual aircraft designproposals. Author : Nicholas Anton; Anders Christiansen-Erlandsson; Magnus Genrup; Marc Gugau; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Turbocharger; Heavy-duty; Turbine; Axial; Radial; Machine Design; Maskinkonstruktion;

    Abstract : The focus on our environment has never been as great as it is today. The impact of global warming and emissions from combustion processes become increasingly more evident with growing concerns among the world’s inhabitants. The consequences of extreme weather events, rising sea levels, urban air quality, etc. READ MORE

  3. 3. Efficient Reconfigurable Multipliers Based on the Twin-Precision Technique

    Author : Magnus Själander; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Reconfigurable; VLSI; Low-Power; Twin-Precision; Multipliers; High-Speed;

    Abstract : During the last decade of integrated electronic design ever more functionality has been integrated onto the same chip, paving the way for having a whole system on a single chip. The strive for ever more functionality increases the demands on circuit designers that have to provide the foundation for all this functionality. READ MORE

  4. 4. Towards a Digital Twin for Individualized Manufacturing of Welded Aerospace Structures

    Author : Hugo Hultman; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; digital twin; non-nominal welding simulation; geometry assurance;

    Abstract : The aerospace industry is constantly striving towards lower fuel consumption while maintaining a high standard with regards to safety and reliability. These increasing demands require the development of new methods and strategies for efficient and precise manufacturing processes. READ MORE

  5. 5. Enhancing Aircraft Conceptual Design using Multidisciplinary Optimization

    Author : Daniel Raymer; KTH; []
    Keywords : aircraft design MDO optimization fighter UAV transport;

    Abstract : Research into the improvement of the Aircraft ConceptualDesign process by the application of MultidisciplinaryOptimization (MDO) is presented. Aircraft conceptual designanalysis codes were incorporated into a variety of optimizationmethods including Orthogonal Steepest Descent (full-factorialstepping search), Monte Carlo, a mutation-based EvolutionaryAlgorithm, and three variants of the Genetic Algorithm withnumerous options.
