1. Electrical Characterization of Partial Discharge Resistant Enamel Insulation
Abstract : Adjustable speed drives for rotating machines have become increasingly popular as they provide possibilities of smooth and accurate process control as well as for energy savings. In such systems, due to the fact that the voltage applied at terminals of motor windings is no longer purely sinusoidal but characterized by a high content of harmonics, the appearing electrical and thermal stresses yield premature failures of the winding insulation, mainly because of an increased partial discharge (PD) activity. 2. Partial Discharges at Repetitive Rapidly Changing Voltages
Abstract : Electrical insulation can today be exposed to voltages having considerably higherfrequency components than the conventional power frequency AC 50 Hz or 60 Hz,for example due to the increased use of power electronics in power systems. Thishas in a number of cases caused unexpected behaviour, including failures. READ MORE

3. High speed communication on twisted-pair wires and low complexity multiuser detectors
Abstract : This thesis deals with two different topics: High speed communication on twisted pair wires (digital subscriber lines) and low complexity multiuser detectors. The major part of this thesis concerns a technique for high speed communication over the telephone network called Very high bit rate Digital Subscriber Line VDSL). READ MORE

4. Estimation and detection of transmission line characteristics in the copper access network
Abstract : The copper access-network operators face the challenge of developing and maintaining cost-effective digital subscriber line (DSL) services that are competitive to other broadband access technologies. The way forward is dictated by the demand of ever increasing data rates on the twisted-pair copper lines. READ MORE

5. Alternative electronic packaging concepts for high frequency electronics
Abstract : The aim of the research work presented here, is to contribute to the adaptation of electronic packaging towards the needs of high frequency applications. As the field of electronic packaging stretches over several very different professional areas, it takes an interdisciplinary approach to optimize the technology of electronic packaging. READ MORE
