  1. 1. VLF and ULF Waves Associated with Magnetospheric Substorms

    Author : Andrew Collier; Lars Blomberg; James McKenzie; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Space physics; Subtorms; Magnetosphere; VLF waves; ULF waves; Space physics; Rymdfysik;

    Abstract : A magnetospheric substorm is manifested in a variety of phenomena observed both in space and on the ground. Two electromagnetic signatures are the Substorm Chorus Event (SCE) and Pi2 pulsations. The SCE is a Very Low Frequency (VLF) radio phenomenon observed on the ground after the onset of the substorm expansion phase. READ MORE

  2. 2. Λ/K0s Associated with a Jet in Central Pb–Pb Collisions at √sNN = 2.76 TeV Measured with the ALICE Detector

    Author : Tuva Richert; Partikel- och kärnfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Lambda K0s; Natural science; LHC; ALICE; Quark gluon plasma; 2.76 TeV; baryon-to-meson; Jet; Bulk; Lambda; K0s; Recombination; Coalescence; Fragmentation; Fysicumarkivet A:2016:Richert;

    Abstract : In high energy heavy ion collisions, the QCD matter undergoes a phase transition to a hot and dense strongly coupled Quark Gluon Plasma, where quarks and gluons are deconfined in a volume of nuclear dimensions. At intermediate pT, 2 < p T < 8 GeV/c, a decoupling from pure hydrodynamical flow is observed, most noticeable in central collisions, demonstrated by the peak in the ratio of baryons to mesons, e. 3. 3. Development and Application of Non-linear Mid-infrared Laser Spectroscopy for Combustion Diagnostics

    Author : Zhiwei Sun; Förbränningsfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Degenerate four-wave mixing; Polarization spectroscopy; Mid-infrared; Non-linear laser spectroscopy; Laser diagnostics; Combustion; Flame; HITRAN; Concentration; Temperature; Fysicumarkivet A:2012:Sun;

    Abstract : The work reported in this thesis involved the development and application of two novel infrared non-linear laser techniques, namely mid-infrared polarization spectroscopy (IRPS) and mid-infrared degenerate four-wave mixing (IR-DFWM) to combustion diagnostics. These two techniques meet the needs of species concentration detection in combustion environments, especially for those species lacking accessible electronic (one-photon) transitions in the ultraviolet (UV) or visible spectral region.
